Last Energy Romania (LE Romania) is looking for a Development Director in Romania to oversee the development of Micro Modular Reactor (MMRs) projects. The Development Director will manage various activities, from early-stage development through to construction, such as securing sites, grid connections, environmental permitting, and stakeholder engagement. This role requires experience and skills in leading multi-million-dollar infrastructure projects, preferably in the renewable energy sector. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Develop a country-level roadmap and budget that most effectively delivers new projects from inception through to Financial Investment Decision (FID) 
    • Collaborate with an international and cross-functional team to identify and prioritize new projects 
    • Identify, contract, and manage 3rd parties that support the development process 
    • Advance the acquisition of greenfield and brownfield sites, which includes negotiating landowner leases, optioning, and/or purchasing/leasing 
    • Progress the non-nuclear site permitting and grid connection efforts for both utility-scale and distributed-scale electric generation projects 
    • Represent LE at permitting meetings/public hearings and work with regulators, utilities, and other stakeholders throughout the project development process 
    • Lead stage-gating approval meetings and providing management with periodic reports on project status 

Qualifications

    • Multiple years of hands-on experience developing multi-million-dollar infrastructure projects, preferably in the power or manufacturing industries 
    • Strong negotiation and communication skills  
    • A strong network of third-party development resources (including real estate, permitting, environmental, and grid connection experts) 
    • Be able to effectively work within multi-disciplinary project teams, establish sound relationships, and work efficiently and courteously with stakeholders 
    • Working knowledge of the energy landscape in Romania 
    • Willing to travel as needed 
    • Four-year college degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, or other discipline
