Last Energy is seeking a reliable and hardworking Operations Technician to support our operations team in Austin. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced environment and is eager to contribute to the success of our groundbreaking projects. The Operations Technician will assist with a variety of tasks, including site preparation, equipment handling, and general operational support, ensuring smooth day-to-day activities.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

    • Set up, operate, and maintain machining and fabrication equipment, including lathes, CNC machines, laser cutters, and welders
    • Fabricate, assemble, and modify components and fixtures based on technical drawings, prototypes, or engineering instructions
    • Assist with material handling and preparation, including cutting, measuring, loading, and transporting stock for machining or assembly
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment with proper tool storage and adherence to safety standards
    • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on fabrication equipment, coordinating with facilities staff for larger repairs
    • Collaborate with engineers and team members to refine prototypes, improve manufacturability, and meet project timelines
    • Adapt to evolving project needs, contributing to both prototyping and occasional facilities and operations support
    • Support additional duties as assigned, with a focus on hands-on problem-solving and rapid iteration in the shop
    • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
    • Previous experience in construction, manufacturing, or general labor is a plus but not required
    • Strong work ethic, reliability, and a team-oriented mindset
    • Willingness to learn and follow instructions in a dynamic, fast-paced setting  
    • Basic understanding of workplace safety practices; training will be provided as needed  
    • CDL is a plus but not required
    • Familiarity with CAD software is a plus but not required
    • Shop floor interface experience is a plus
    • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working outdoors in various weather conditions  
    • Legally authorized to work in the United States
