We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Technical Lead for a high-priority Cloud-based data management platform within a secure government environment. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in cloud technologies, data architecture, and software development, with a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams while ensuring compliance with security protocols. The Secret-Cleared Technical Lead will be responsible for guiding technical strategy, architecture, and design for a range of cloud-based data solutions, as well as supporting the integration and deployment of cutting-edge technologies in a secure and high-impact environment.
The position is primarily remote however periodic local commuting for client meetings in secured facilities (20%) is required.
$155,000 - $160,000 a year
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Collaboration
Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of data engineers, application developers, software architects, and User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX) developers, driving best practices and technical innovation within the CHMR program.
Foster effective communication throughout the project lifecycle and ensure seamless collaboration between cross-functional teams.
Liaise between the development team, other departments, and management to ensure project alignment.
Project & Technical Management
Responsible for the successful execution of technical projects, ensuring that they meet quality standards, business objectives, and are delivered on time.
Identify and manage risks that could affect project delivery, using proactive risk planning, continuous monitoring, and contingency plans to keep projects on track.
Translate requirements into actionable plans and ensure that they are executed efficiently.
Ensure adherence to industry best practices and organizational standards throughout the project.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, deployment guides, and operational procedures.
System Architecture & Data Engineering
Design, implement, and optimize System-of-Systems (SOS) data architectures using existing Army data platforms ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
Oversee the design and development of data pipelines, data lakes, and data warehouse solutions, ensuring proper data storage, processing, and retrieval across cloud environments.
Stay up to date on emerging data automation technologies and tools, evaluating their potential integration into existing systems.
Security & Compliance
Work closely with security teams to ensure that all solutions comply with FISMA, NIST, FedRAMP, and other relevant government regulations.
Implement best practices for securing sensitive data across cloud environments.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
Collaborate with program managers, business analysts, and government clients to define technical requirements, develop roadmaps, and ensure the successful delivery of solutions.
Maintain clear and consistent communication with all stakeholders, ensuring that project goals and progress are well understood across the organization.
Optimization & Continuous Improvement
Lead troubleshooting efforts, identify performance bottlenecks, and ensure optimal resource utilization and cost efficiency.
Monitor and assess project performance continuously, adjusting as needed to achieve the desired outcomes.
Requirements
Required:
Active SECRET Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain TOP SECRET throughout employment.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
8+ years of experience in data engineering, cloud computing, and/or software development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior technical role.
Proven experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) in a secure government environment.
Strong understanding of cloud-native data technologies such as AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse, Google BigQuery, AWS S3, Lambda, and ETL/ELT processes.
Expertise in data pipelines, data warehousing, data lakes, and distributed data systems.
In-depth knowledge of security best practices and data governance frameworks in cloud environments.
Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on scalability, cost efficiency, and high availability.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred:
Master’s degree in a relevant technical field.
Experience working on classified or sensitive government contracts.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes).
Certifications in cloud technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
Experience with Agile or Scrum methodologies.
Position does require an active Secret clearance. 80% remote work with 20% travel.
