Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented SUE Utility Mapping Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) and be responsible for the accurate location, identification, and mapping of underground utilities. This role supports the planning, design, and construction of infrastructure projects by mitigating risks associated with unknown or misidentified utilities.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct field investigations to locate and identify underground utilities using SUE techniques (ASCE 38 standards).
- Collect and interpret data using geophysical locating tools such as electromagnetic locators, ground-penetrating radar (GPR), and vacuum excavation (potholing).
- Prepare high-quality utility maps, CAD drawings, and reports detailing utility location and condition.
- Classify utility quality levels (QL-A through QL-D) based on field findings and project scope.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and surveyors to integrate utility data into broader project deliverables.
- Maintain accurate documentation of field findings, including GPS data collection and photographs.
- Ensure safety procedures and regulatory compliance during all field operations.
- Support utility coordination efforts with public agencies and private utility owners.
