About the opportunity:
The Data Insights & Reporting Lead plays a critical role in driving a culture of evidence-informed decision-making across the organisation. Sitting within the Homelessness Solutions & Impact portfolio, the role uses data to generate strategic insights and report on our impact, taking a whole-of-organisation approach.

Reporting to the Head of Impact, the role is responsible for managing Launch Housing’s client management systems (SRS) and client data warehouse (the Asset). The role works closely with IT to ensure the provision of timely, accurate and actionable dashboards through Power BI. It is responsible for the quality and integrity of our data assets, supports data capability lift across program teams, and influences how we use data to support service planning, innovation and advocacy. The role also works with program teams to ensure high-quality internal and external reporting to funders, partners and stakeholders.

The role is expected to demonstrate leadership that aligns with Launch Housing’s organisational vision and values, helping translate these into day-to-day practice across their area of influence. This includes designing and supporting initiatives that respond to client and organisational needs, while ensuring the wellbeing and safety of staff. The role requires a proactive and innovative approach to service and program development, encouraging collaboration across teams to improve outcomes and break down silos.

The role is also expected to create opportunities to engage meaningfully with colleagues, provides guidance and coaching, and uses challenges as opportunities for learning and improvement. They support the professional development of their direct report and contribute to succession planning within the organisation. As a leader, they role model Launch Values and actively seek feedback to strengthen their own leadership.

Permanent, part-time role (0.8 FTE, 60.8 hours per fortnight) based in Collingwood.

What you'll be doing:

    • Driving the use of insights to influence real-time decision-making and improve service responsiveness.
    • Developing and maintaining dashboards and visualisations (primarily in Power BI) to support strategic and operational decision-making.
    • Monitoring the uptake and use of dashboards and data products to inform continuous improvement and ensure insights are being embedded into decision-making.
    • Leading the delivery of accurate, timely and purposeful reporting to funders, partners and executive stakeholders.
    • Project managing reporting cycles, such as SDT, annual Renter Survey and the annual Impact Report.
    • Collaborating with the Head of Impact to refine the use of data in business cases, funding proposals and policy submissions.
    • Using publicly available, internal and commissioned datasets to conduct predictive analytics and demand modelling that informs service planning and design.
    • Partnering with team members to integrate performance data into evaluations, service reviews and demand modelling.
    • Ensuring timely responses to other priority data requests (e.g. advocacy, tenders, external audits). 

What we're looking for (key selection criteria):

    • Demonstrated expertise in data analysis, reporting, and visualisation ideally using tools such as Power BI, SQL and Excel.
    • Proven experience leading data capability uplift, including developing data strategies, building dashboards, and training others.
    • Strong understanding of client data systems, warehousing and governance, and experience managing or working closely with technical data specialists.
    • Demonstrated ability to work across disciplines (e.g. IT, service delivery, evaluation) to align data practices with organisational goals.
    • Demonstrated ability to translate complex data into actionable insights to support service design, planning and advocacy.
    • Experience managing reporting obligations to government or funders in a community, social services or health setting.
    • Leadership and coaching capabilities, including experience supervising team members and working crossfunctionally.
    • Outstanding organisational and project management skills with the ability to juggle competing priorities.
    • Understanding of, or a demonstrated commitment to upholding, Child Safe Standards in the workplace.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
    • Demonstrated commitment to the values of Launch Housing and our mission to end homelessness.
$118,514.35 - $123,460.08 a year
Please note the salary range above is for a full-time equivalent.
