We’re on a mission to become the first and only digital healthcare bank. Our first step was to make streamlined business financing (for example, a $750,000 loan for a dentist to buy her first practice) available to busy healthcare practitioners at their convenience -- instead of during the typical 9-to-5 banker’s hours. Our communities depend on doctors and their valuable time, so the hours we save them from archaic bank application and closing processes have an enormous impact. On the back end, our software makes our team more efficient at processing -- without the overhead of a brick-and-mortar presence -- saving doctors even more time and money.

About the role:

We're looking for a seasoned leader to develop and manage Lendeavor's talented, collaborative engineering teams as VP of Engineering. As a key member of our leadership team, you'll work side-by-side with the company's founders and other executives to shape our strategic direction and growth.

What you'll do:

    • Lead and coordinate engineering teams to ship high-quality software that fulfills product and business needs in an efficient manner
    • Manage the growth of the engineering teams in order to keep pace with the growing technological demands of the business
    • Establish, enhance, and proactively communicate our engineering vision and strategy, ensuring strong alignment both within and outside the engineering teams
    • Contribute to overall business strategy, working particularly closely and effectively with product leadership
    • Help translate company priorities into a clear and actionable engineering roadmap, balanced with technical debt and other engineering priorities
    • Manage the total operational spend of the engineering teams, including technical operations
    • Ensure a high level of collaboration and teamwork across and within the engineering teams
    • Build tools and process to accurately forecast software delivery and eliminate bottlenecks in the development cycle
    • Ensure the engineering teams meet critical requirements around security and compliance
    • Create a rewarding and productive engineering environment for a great work experience and career growth for all team members
    • Establish and manage relationships with outside software vendors and security firms
    • Have regular one-on-ones with engineering team members where you will (i) set expectations, provide feedback, and hold each team member accountable; (ii) ensure each team member has the business information they need; (iii) ensure each team member has the resources they need; and (iv) help resolve technical and personal challenges facing each team member

What you have:

    • At least 5 years of demonstrated leadership experience leading an engineering team of 10 engineers or larger, ideally where you managed growth of that team
    • A B.S. in computer science or appropriate field, or an analogous level of experience
    • The ability to engage and work with the executive team to establish engineering budgets and priorities
    • The ability to work with a distributed team of engineers (across the U.S. and Canada)
    • Exceptional communication skills in both formal and informal settings
    • Proven success in recruiting and retaining high-performing engineering teams
    • A good understanding of modern web application technologies, and their challenges and benefits
    • A good understanding of modern security and compliance challenges in online software, especially geared toward the financial services industry
    • An ability and desire to understand the complex business requirements associated with commercial lending
    • A track record of holding a team accountable to goals aligned with company-wide strategic priorities
    • Deep experience implementing engineering, management, and process best practices within a rapidly growing team
    • A great track record of growing top-notch engineering teams quickly

Not required, but nice to have:

    • Experience at a fintech company, particularly in consumer or commercial lending
    • Some background in finance, risk, accounting, or a related field
