The Director of Marketing Technology is primarily responsible for developing a comprehensive strategy focused on how Marketing Technology supports community acquisition, engagement and retention for the YouVersion Family of Apps. This role will lead a team dedicated to the execution and planning of the daily communications and user journeys. It will support execution and provide the strategy, vision, and leadership for the marketing tech stack. The role will work alongside the Data Team to conduct analyses to understand user behaviors, create consumer segments and leverage personalization tools to create and maintain campaigns. This role will work in close collaboration with marketing teams to build highly personalized experiences aimed at driving Bible engagement, and retention. The Director is responsible for collaborating with their CTL/CML to cast vision, provide direction, and lead ministry efforts within their area of influence to outcomes that further Life.Church’s mission and reach people for Christ.

What You’ll Do

    • Cast vision and provide direction to team.
    • Develops & leads the Marketing Technology team, as well as 3rd party partners, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and results.
    • Collaborate with leadership across the organization in building the path for Marketing Technology advancement to directly support the YouVersion mission.
    • Lead the optimization of Marketing Technology tools to improve performance, automation, and reporting.
    • Determine if current communication systems can scale and achieve proper growth as the team moves forward.
    • Provide ongoing leadership for Marketing Technology-related platforms to ensure each platform meets key goals as defined in the technology plan.
    • Equip the Marketing Strategy team to drive continuous A/B testing to enhance open and click-through rates, attributed actions, while optimizing messaging based on insights.
    • Work with our Marketing Strategy & Data Teams to co-create and enhance segments for personalized communication, employing an analytical approach to Community data and segmentation.
    • Lead the team that executes and manages automated journeys, including new account creations, re-engagement efforts, and next best step efforts.
    • Oversee the daily operations of the team.
    • Engage in contract negotiation with outside partners to ensure product specifications and goals are met.
    • Support and execute campaigns based on creative assets by building templates through HTML, CSS, etc., as needed.
    • Collaborate with the Data Team to support the ongoing analysis of Marketing. Campaign trends and analytics, aiding in recommendations for personalization strategies & optimizations.
    • Present data-driven recommendations to cross-functional partners and senior leaders.

Skills Needed to Succeed

    • Ability to self-motivate, make independent decisions, and solve problems with innovation.
    • Effective at multi-tasking and time management to meet strict deadlines while remaining flexible and open to change.
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to clearly explain complicated processes and foster partnerships.
    • Effective at process and organizational management to coordinate, structure, and provide vision to projects.
    • Strong leadership skills and understanding of developing and guiding others.
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • 3+ years of related work experience.
