About the Role
Lightship’s mission to modernize and electrify RVs demands that we build a complex power system with multiple interfaces. As a Manager of Software Engineering, you will oversee the development and implementation of embedded software solutions for our products. You will be responsible for leading a team of software engineers, managing project timelines, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software within budgetary constraints. You are also willing to develop firmware as needed to help hasten our path to market with an exceptional vehicle that redefines RVing.

Responsibilities

    • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of software engineers
    • Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment
    • Manage the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment
    • Develop project plans and schedules, and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget
    • Identify and mitigate risks to project success, and proactively address any issues that arise
    • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the team, helping to solve complex problems and make sound technical decisions
    • Provide firmware development support when necessary
    • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in embedded software development, and ensure that the team is using the most appropriate tools and technologies
    • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in our software development processes
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, system engineers, and product managers, to ensure the successful integration of software with hardware components
    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization

Minimum Qualifications

    • BS or above in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
    • Minimum 5 years experience as an embedded software developer
    • Minimum 3 years experience in a leadership or management role with a proven track record of successfully leading software development teams
    • Excellent technical skills in embedded systems programming languages such as C or C++.
    • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and hardware/software integration
    • Strong understanding of software development process
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

    • MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
    • Knowledge of automotive cybersecurity
    • Familiarity with Cloud IoT architectures
    • Familiarity with embedded Linux
    • You bring an entrepreneurial mindset to your work and are comfortable with uncertainty

Equity

    • Lightship compensation consists of the yearly salary above plus equity, which gives you a stake in the company.
$145,000 - $180,000 a year
Onsite/Hybrid Work
Hybrid roles at Lightship require onsite work from our offices Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Tuesdays and Fridays are optional work from home days, when your work will be executed more successfully from home. Speak to the hiring manager to learn more.
