We are looking for an outstanding lawyer to join our EMEA legal team as Legal Counsel to support France, Benelux and Italy and advise on various legal issues at one of the fastest-growing startups in history. In this role, you'll counsel the business on a wide variety of legal topics , including administrative and public law issues, litigation  (including managing personal injury claims), data privacy issues, and  commercial contract negotiations. You will have 4-6 years of experience working on these types of matters either in an in-house or private practice environment. You will have a pragmatic, solution-focused, cost-efficient approach and enjoy working in an informal, startup-style structure.

We are a remote-first company and welcome applications from anywhere in France (with an ability to travel to Paris periodically).

What you'll do:

    • This role will advise on a full range of legal topics concerning the French, Italian and Benelux market, including regulatory compliance, litigation, personal injury law, commercial law, consumer law, insurance and civil liability, administrative and public law,  and employment law;
    • Work effectively across business units and corporate functions to resolve complex business and risk management issues;
    • Be the main point of contact for the local day-to-day legal queries relating to operations in France, Italy and Benelux supporting the General Manager, Operations team  and the Government Relations team in particular; and
    • Manage outside counsel relationships as necessary.

About you:

    • Fluent in English, French and Italian.
    • Admitted to practice law in the France 
    • 4 to 6 years of relevant post-qualification experience
    • Comfortable advising different commercial stakeholders
    • Experienced in commercial litigation, ideally with some experience with personal injury claims
    • Ability to work well under pressure with diligence, organization, and minimal supervision, and provide practical, business-friendly advice to stakeholders;
    • Strong analytical and strategic skills, with the demonstrated ability to appropriately balance legal and non-legal concerns and help drive issues to a quick resolution
    • High degree of professional ethics and integrity
    • Ability to anticipate legal issues or risks and build the processes and systems to prevent them from occurring.
