ROLE OVERVIEW
At Lindblad, the Deployment Manager is instrumental in the strategic planning and execution of fleet deployment for our global cruise line. This dynamic role encompasses the development and optimization of ship deployment strategies, product offerings, and voyage lengths, all aimed at maximizing profitability, enhancing guest satisfaction, and ensuring operational efficiency. The Deployment Manager will collaborate closely with teams across expedition development, revenue management, marine operations, port operations, and marketing to drive success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Strategic Development Spearhead the formulation and implementation of long-term fleet deployment strategies that align with the company’s vision and objectives.
    • Market Analysis: Conduct thorough analyses of global cruise markets to identify new deployment opportunities and emerging travel destinations that align with guest preferences.
    • Performance Optimization: Evaluate ship-specific performance metrics and recommend strategic deployment adjustments to maximize revenue and enhance occupancy rates.
    • Operational Coordination: Collaborate with marine operations to ensure navigational feasibility and adherence to all regulatory requirements, ensuring seamless operations.
    • Proposal Development: Prepare and present comprehensive deployment proposals to senior leadership for evaluation and approval, backed by data-driven insights.
    • Strategic Decision Support: Provide analytical support for strategic decision-making through forecasting models, market research, and performance analysis.
    • Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor existing deployments, identifying opportunities for revenue maximization through strategic redeployments and operational enhancements.
    • Industry Trends Analysis: Stay informed on competitor deployments and industry trends to refine and inform deployment strategies effectively.
    • Financial Systems Management: Oversee the management of internal planning tools and systems used for financial modeling, collaborating closely with the finance team.
    • Regulatory Navigation: Partner with legal and compliance teams to adeptly navigate cabotage laws, port restrictions, and environmental regulations, ensuring compliance.
    • Collaborative Engagement: Work closely with shipboard teams to gather insights and feedback on deployment opportunities and operational challenges.
    • Product Launch Coordination: Lead the coordination efforts for product builds and launches, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and guest expectations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Maritime Studies, Transportation, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
    • Experience: 5+ years of experience in strategic planning, commercial planning, or deployment strategy within the cruise industry or a related field.
    • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools.
    • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling presentations and persuade stakeholders.
    • Project Management: Proven project management abilities, with a talent for prioritizing tasks, managing timelines, and driving projects to successful completion.
    • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience working cross-functionally and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Technically Proficiency: Deeply comfortable using MS Office (Excel, Word, PPT, SharePoint)
    • Hybrid Working Model: Ability to work onsite Tue/Wed/Thu each week in our Seattle offices (Belltown)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with global deployment cycles and the expedition cruise business, including revenue optimization strategies.
    • Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills that foster collaboration.
    • Financial Acumen: Familiarity with cruise industry P&L and operating costs.
$85,000 - $95,000 a year
This role is eligible for an annual 5% bonus, based on performance.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear.  The employee will also be required to write and type.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.  

COMPENSATION STATEMENT
Lindblad Expeditions determines the pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data. We evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company. Our posted salary range is based on national data and may be refined for a candidate's region/town/cost of living.

For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. Salaries will be based on the applicant’s location, level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will receive higher pay.
