We are searching for an Electromagnetic Design Engineer to join our team @ Linear Labs Inc in Fort Worth, TX.  We are seeking an experienced and talented professional who can thrive in the dynamic and fast-paced environment of a start-up.  This position is required to work onsite at our Fort Worth facility.

The candidate must be able to design and develop electric machinery by linking power electronic converters, magnetic and thermal models of the machine to quantify the electromechanical (i.e. torque, speed, core losses, efficiency, etc.), thermal (transient and steady state temperature distribution in the presence of a cooling system), and structural (vibration and acoustic noise) performance of the machine.

What You'll Do

    • Understand electric machines deeply including product concept development and participation in new product development using advanced knowledge of the latest technologies and methods in the industry.
    • Design and analysis of electromagnetic product pieces using modelling and simulation
    • Partner with a multi-functional team of engineers (Design, Manufacturing, Quality, & Test) to develop, qualify, and release electric motor product to manufacturing
    • Read and interpret complex engineering data sheets and specifications
    • Analyze the impact of changes to production specifications
    • Develop calculation tools incl. programming and mathematical modelling to support design and data analysis
    • Other responsibilities as assigned

What'll You'll Bring

    • Master's degree (PhD preferred) in Engineering, Physics, or relevant field of study
    • 4+ years of relevant experience
    • Strong background in electric motors and power electronics required
    • Deep understanding of multi-physics analysis using analytical and numerical analysis of electric machines including two and three dimensional electromagnetic, thermal, structural, and fluid dynamics
    • Familiarity with optimization algorithms and commercially available finite element packages (ANSYS preferred)
    • Detailed understanding of permanent magnet synchronous machines and development of dynamic models
    • Must possess a strong work ethic and entrepreneurial mindset, with an ability to work independently, and be at ease in a startup, fast paced environment
    • Excellent teamwork, communication and presentation skills
    • Programming experience
