We are searching for a Patent Agent to join our team. Reporting to the General Counsel, this will be a remote based position in the near term, but eventually join our team onsite at our Fort Worth, TX location/facility. 

What You'll Do

    • Work closely with the company's Director of Engineering, General Counsel and outside Patent Counsel
    • Partner directly with inventors to fully describe and illustrate new inventions
    • Collaborate with inventors to elaborate on and clarify fundamental invention idea
    • Evaluate the patentability of inventions, draft Provisional Filings and assist in responding to Office Actions for company innovation
    • Perform research and analysis and provide guidance on a variety of patent and IP-related issue
    • Act as liaison for interdepartmental initiatives and interact with outside counsel on a regular basis
    • Other responsibilities as assigned 

What You’ll Bring

    • Bachelor's degree in a science discipline, electrical and mechanical engineering is preferred
    • A Master's degree is a plus
    • Registered to practice as a Patent Agent with the USPTO
    • Minimum 4 years of patent experience in a law firm or technology company handling EE/CS patent prosecution
    • Experience in the electric motor industry and electromechanical devices is desirable
    • Must be able to manage critical filing deadlines including soliciting feedback and other information from inventors
    • Strong technological background and a familiarity with both hardware and software
    • Proficient in CAD software, such as Solidworks, and have a high level of technical writing ability 
    • Developing CAD models and patent drawings a plus
    • Building out patent portfolios a plus
    • Responsiveness and communication skills are essential
    • Must possess a strong work ethic and entrepreneurial mindset, with an ability to work independently, and be at ease in a startup, fast paced environment
