Join our client, an AmLaw 100, as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), a strategic member of the
Firm’s Senior Leadership Team, responsible for the integrity of all financial information and
systems, and for directing the firm’s overall financial policies. The CFO oversees key
administrative and operational areas including Revenue Cycle Management, Core Accounting
Functions, Financial Reporting and Analysis, Partner Accounting and Taxation, Procurement,
Insurance, and Workplace Strategies. The CFO reports to the Chief Executive and communicates
broadly across the firm, fostering a culture of excellent customer service, efficiency, and
collaboration.
Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Ensure the integrity and security of the firm’s financial information and systems.
- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the firm’s goals for growth, profitability, and sustainability.
- Direct the firm’s overall financial policies and ensure standardized fiscal management policies and procedures are in place and followed.
- Prepare financial analyses regarding the implications of firm actions such as mergers, lateral acquisitions, and capital expenditures.
Financial Operations & Reporting
- Oversee all financial functions including accounting, budgeting, credit, insurance, tax, office leases and buildout costs, and treasury.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including dashboards and management reports.
- Manage the firm’s accounting systems, including time and cost inventory, billing, collections, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, fixed assets, and profit models.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes; provide actionable insights to firm leadership.
Profitability & Benchmarking
- Analyze firm profitability at the matter, client, attorney, practice, and SBU levels; provide recommendations for profit improvement.
- Analyze best practice ratios and statistics, compare results to both internal and industry benchmarks, and recommend improvements.
- Provide analytical services for Senior Leadership Team members to ensure profit objectives are achieved.
Cash Management & Compliance
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and partner compensation/distributions.
- Maintain the firm’s banking relationships and supervise all cash management functions.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws, partnership agreements, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform routine audits of financial information and equipment to secure the firm’s assets.
Partner & Compensation Accounting
- Assist in the partner compensation process and provide detailed account analysis of all partner compensation and capital accounts.
- Provide guidance on non-partner timekeeper compensation and set performance expectations.
Procurement & Insurance
- Oversee the firm’s centralized procurement operations and policies.
- Evaluate, procure, and manage select firm insurance policies (e.g., professional liability, property & casualty, cyber, health, workers’ compensation).
- Regularly assess the firm’s risk profile, recommend appropriate insurance coverage, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Oversee claims management and coordinate with brokers, carriers, and legal counsel as needed.
Workplace Strategies & Facilities
- Oversee office facilities management, including lease negotiations, space utilization, buildout costs, and vendor relationships.
- Develop and implement workplace strategies that support productivity, collaboration, and employee well-being.
- Collaborate with HR, IT, and other administrative departments to ensure workplace policies and tools meet the evolving needs of attorneys and staff.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance, facilities, and insurance administration teams.
- Communicate widely and often with all members of the firm to foster excellent customer service, efficiency, and collaboration.
- Respond with a sense of urgency to support attorneys in serving client relationships.
Other Responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive or Executive Leadership Team.
Physical Requirements
- The employee may be required to be stationary for prolonged periods, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary, be able to inspect and observe information on a computer screen at least 80% of the time, and, on occasion, have the ability to lift or carry 25-30 pounds.

Position Requirements
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree required.
- Minimum of 5 years of law firm CFO experience required, at an AmLaw100 firm.
- Minimum of 15 years’ progressive expertise in related areas required; substantial experience leading company-wide initiatives within a multi-office setting, preferably in a professional services firm environment required.
- Significant mastery of complex concepts, practices, and procedures within Finance field.
- Must be able to travel extensively.
