Lochmueller Group is seeking an experienced civil engineer to join our Roadway/Highway Design team. We are looking for a technical expert who is passionate about roadway/highway design engineering, enhancing the quality of projects, and mentoring junior level staff. This is a great opportunity to work in a hybrid or remote (work from home) capacity with the potential for periodic travel to the assigned office location. Ideal locations for this role would include Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky or Ohio.
 
We are looking for a talented Professional Engineer that enjoys the technical aspects of roadway/highway design projects. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects with an incredible team of talented professionals. The ideal candidate will be a Professional Engineer with at least 15 years of experience working on DOT and/or LPA roadway design projects.

In this position, the candidate will:

    • Work on a variety of DOT and/or LPA roadway/highway design projects.
    • Work on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects. 
    • Independently apply extensive knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assignments.
    • Assist upper-level management and staff as a technical specialist or advisor.
    • Provide mentorship to junior level engineers and design staff.
    • Review complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
    • Ensure project designs are in conformance with the latest design specifications.
    • Perform design quantity computations and checks.
    • Produce drawings in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
    • Prepare proposals or funding applications.
    • Acquire general knowledge of practices in related fields and function as a part of multidisciplinary teams.
    • Perform other duties associated with the position.

Qualifications for this role:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
    • Professional Engineer (PE)
    • 15+ years of experience in roadway design
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
    • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
    • Ability to work individually or as part of a team
