Lochmueller Group is seeking an experienced Engineering Designer to join our Roadway/Highway design team in Belleville, IL or Edwardsville, IL.
 
Lochmueller Group is a regional engineering consulting firm with an emphasis on infrastructure.  We provide multi-disciplined services for a variety of public agencies and private entities, including transportation design; water resources design; environmental analysis & permitting; construction engineering & inspection; traffic engineering & transportation planning; surveying; and land acquisition & appraisal. Our transportation design team offers a variety of services, but most of our work involves roadway and bridge design for various local public agencies and state DOT’s.

In this position, the candidate will:

    • Prepare project documents (i.e., design drawings, specifications, quantity take-offs). 
    • Plan and coordinate limited aspects of the engineering work.
    • Perform design type functions related to geometric design, hydraulic components, and plan preparations.
    • Understand and work with surveying data.
    • Read and interpret schematic and construction plans.
    • Depending on the experience and capabilities of the selected candidate, this position may also guide designers in the production of drawings and assist in continuing training of the design team.
    • May also be involved in other various responsibilities and projects. 

Qualifications for this role:

    • Education or advanced training in MicroStation, AutoCAD, or other related design programs; Experience may be considered in lieu of education.
    • Proficiency with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD. Experience with both programs would be helpful.
    • 5+ years of experience as designer working on DOT or municipal roadway projects. 10+ years of experience is preferred. 
    • Demonstrated ability to create a set of sheets from engineering designs and performing quantity take-offs. 
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel, and Word
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
