We are looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to join our Roadway/Highway Design team in Northwest Indiana. The ideal candidate for this role will be a Professional Engineer with experience working on local agency and/or DOT roadway design projects. Lochmueller Group is a regional engineering consulting firm with an emphasis on infrastructure.  We provide multi-disciplined services for a variety of public agencies and private entities, including transportation design; water resources design; environmental analysis & permitting; construction engineering & inspection; traffic engineering & transportation planning; surveying; and land acquisition & appraisal. Our transportation design team offers a variety of services, but most of our work involves roadway and bridge design for various local public agencies and state DOT’s.

In this position, the candidate will:

    • Work on a variety of DOT and/or LPA roadway/highway design projects.
    • Take a lead role in project planning, design, and implementation.
    • Review and approve project scopes, budgets, and schedules. 
    • Manage project tasks, budgets, schedules, and resources effectively.
    • Delegate work to project team members.
    • Perform detailed engineering analysis and design tasks.
    • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
    • Review complete project documents, ensuring quality and compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
    • Assists upper level management and staff as a technical specialist or advisor.
    • May perform other duties associated with this role.

Qualifications for this role:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
    • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) 
    • 8+ years of experience in roadway/highway design engineering.
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
    • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
    • Ability to work well individually or as part of a team are essential
