Orbitworks is taking on an exciting new venture, building the first commercial satellite production facility in the Middle East. As an Electrical AIT Engineer, you'll be responsible for the development and execution of electrical test scripts, troubleshooting electrical anomalies during Assembly, Integration, and Test (AIT), and maintaining Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) and other electrical equipment within the cleanroom environment. You will work closely with test engineers to translate test requirements into actionable procedures and serve as a first responder for electrical issues during satellite testing.
About This Role:
- Test Script Development:
- Develop and implement electrical test scripts based on input from test engineers and system requirements.
- Translate test plans and procedures into detailed, executable test scripts using appropriate software and programming languages.
- Validate and verify test scripts to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.
- AIT Execution and Troubleshooting:
- Perform electrical tests during satellite AIT phases, including functional tests, performance tests, and environmental tests.
- Monitor test results and analyze data to identify anomalies and deviations from expected performance.
- Serve as the first responder for electrical anomalies during AIT, performing initial troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- Collaborate with test and systems engineers to resolve electrical issues and implement corrective actions.
- EGSE and Equipment Maintenance:
- Maintain and calibrate EGSE and other electrical equipment in the cleanroom environment.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment malfunctions.
- Ensure the proper storage and handling of electrical components and equipment.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of test procedures, results, and anomalies.
- Generate test reports and documentation for review by test and systems engineers.
- Document maintenance procedures and equipment logs.
- Contribute to as built documentation.
- Cleanroom Operations:
- Adhere to cleanroom protocols and procedures to maintain a controlled environment.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of sensitive electrical components.
- Ensure all work is done in accordance to ESD (Electrostatic discharge) protocol.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and industry standards related to electrical testing and equipment maintenance.
- Implement and enforce safety procedures in the cleanroom and test areas.
Must Haves:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in electrical testing and troubleshooting, preferably in the aerospace, defense, or high-tech industry.
- Experience with satellite AIT processes and EGSE is a must.
- Proficiency in developing and executing electrical test scripts using programming languages such as Python
- Strong understanding of electrical circuits, components, and test equipment.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience working in clean room environments.
- Knowledge of ESD control.
Nice to Haves:
- Experience with specific satellite subsystems, such as power systems, communication systems, or control systems.
- Experience with environmental testing (e.g., thermal vacuum).
- Experience with RF testing.
- Experience with space standards.
Orbitworks' mission is to make space simple for organizations that want to deploy physical and virtual missions to space. Building on Loft Orbital's heritage, Orbitworks will be the first commercial firm in the United Arab Emirates to mass-manufacture satellites. Orbitworks aims to manufacture tens of satellites annually and operates out of a 50,000-square-foot facility in Abu Dhabi.
