Loft Orbital builds “shareable” satellites, providing a fast & simple path to orbit for organizations that require access to space. Powered by our hardware & software products, we operate satellites, fly customer payloads onboard, and handle entire missions from end to end - significantly reducing the lead-time and risk of a traditional space mission.

The Flight Software team is responsible for creating the core software between the Payloads collecting the data and the Bus controlling our satellites. The team covers the framework for services, communication interface and data management. They work in a Linux environment. We build the bricks that enable Loft to customize the satellite configuration while guarantying standardization of the space infrastructure.

Responsibilities

    • Facilitate tactical planning and detailed schedule for team’s software releases
    • Continuously ensure tactical alignment between teams across the company
    • Assist FSW engineers in Scrum ceremonies
    • Monitor, analyze, and report FSW team progress toward internal and external milestones, identifying and communicating schedule-related risks
    • Support FSW technical leads in coordinating stakeholder needs in quarterly strategic and roadmap planning
    • Facilitate discussions with stakeholders when there is a change of direction or new information impacting the schedule
    • Work with the FSW team to identify potential inefficiencies and help devise experiments to provide data to test those hypotheses
    • Help enforce and encourage adherence to FSW processes through automation and rules and reports

Must-Haves

    • Servant leadership mentality; first 6 to 12 months will be spent onboarding and implementing already envisioned process improvements
    • High proficiency with Jira
    • Analytical mindset; able to transcribe processes from implicit to explicit; automate processes, reports, and alerts
    • Interpersonal skills; able to influence others without organizational authority
    • Proficiency with Python
    • Ability to travel in the US (we have two offices in the US: San Francisco, CA and Golden, CO) or France for a week at least once per quarter

Nice-to-Haves

    • Good written, verbal, and data visualization communication skills; verbal, written, and ability to effectively represent data visually/graphically
    • Previous experience at a tech startup
    • Previous experience in the space industry
    • Previous experience at a company developing complex embedded (HW/SW) systems
    • Previous experience working with an international team across large time zone differences
    • Previous experience with various Agile methodologies, like Scrum, Kanban, Lean, etc
    • Previous experience with Project Management Institute (PMI) best practices
    • Previous experience managing projects
$110,500 - $149,500 a year
