The role:
Our fact-checkers research and write original, high-quality fact checks and analysis pieces to strict editorial standards and tight deadlines for a mix of audiences, from the readers of our website to private and public sector clients. We also work closely with major social media companies to moderate misinformative content on their platforms.
As Logically Facts’ deputy editor, you will manage a team of fact-checkers making a direct contribution to our mission to understand and combat mis and disinformation. You will have the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of fact-checking initiatives and to the development of our fact-checking technology and products.

Primary Responsibilities
Line management of a team of five to seven European fact-checkers and point of escalation for their editorial, logistical, technical, and administrative concerns
Train and guide fact-checking team members to write fact-checks, analyses, and news articles to meet LF standards
Reviewing editorial content created by the team and ensuring an extremely high standard of accuracy and clarity in all our fact-checking output
Providing constructive and regular feedback to fact-checkers to improve their work
Responsible for resource allocation to ensure client work is fulfilled in a timely and qualitative manner
Contributing and creating workflows, checklists, and guidelines needed to maintain standards Managing complaints and coordinating revisions or corrections

Essential Skills and Experience
Professional newsroom, fact-checking, or other editorial experience of at least 4-5 years
Deep understanding of the misinfo and disinformation space and the main challenges and dynamics of the fact-checking industry
Demonstrable experience managing a team of professionals in a news or media organization and the ability to lead a team of professional fact-checkers
Excellent English written and verbal communication skills and strong language copy-writing skills 
A keen eye for detail and the ability to grasp new and complicated information quickly
Ability to work well to tight deadlines and to prioritize tasks according to urgency and relevance
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to remain impartial and critical while reviewing complex and sensitive topics

Desirable Skills and Experience

Being native in a second language from Arabic, Spanish, Russian, German, French or another language will be highly considered
Familiarity with fact-checking skills and techniques and/or Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) techniques
An understanding of the political and media landscape in the EMEA region A master’s degree in any arts, humanities, or STEM field
Expertise in a complementary discipline or subject (e.g. Economics, Politics, International Relations, Public Health, National Security)
An understanding of people management practices, particularly around performance management
Ability to delegate work effectively to team members; ensuring tasks are completed without micromanaging
Ability to provide effective feedback and encourage others within your team to also do so
Ability to effectively address and resolve basic conflicts within your team
Ability to recruit within your function and level new hires with some supervision
