We are looking for a customer-oriented senior fiber installer. A Fiber Installer is an exciting role
responsible for installing our fiber internet and voice services in both residential and business
customer premises. Fiber optic experience required. The senior fiber installer will be responsible for
managing the quality, on-budget, and timely delivery of fiber services to our customers.

Duties & Responsibilities

    • Lead an internal fiber installation team and provide leadership and mentorship through coaching, feedback, development goals and performance management.
    • Accountable for fiber installation construction projects to be delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
    • Creating long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines
    • Responsible for detailed reporting on both installation metrics and employee performance.
    • Make effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with a project.
    • Assist all stakeholders by escalating and resolving roadblocks.
    • Work directly with customers to address and resolve concerns quickly and effectively.
    • Develop, coordinate, and execute project schedules with customers and internal stakeholders.
    • Coordinate and participate in regular meeting series to ensure communication and alignment of initiatives, information sharing, and implementation of best practices
    • Ensure fiber installation team and vendor partners are following company, municipality or government agency guidelines, and any other relevant guidelines related to the installation of Loop infrastructure.
    • Measure team and project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
    • Diligence in quality control reviews and attention to detail
    • Participate in daily meetings that may include after hours and weekends where needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • Utilize test equipment to install products and isolate trouble effectively.
    • Support, install, and repair company products by providing Loop Internet services.
    • Install and maintain inside wiring for residential/business service.
    • Install wireless home networking equipment; will include FTTH (Fiber to the Home).
    • Use and understand automated Dispatch equipment (i.e. hand held terminals), read and understand broadband service orders and trouble tickets, and the use of appropriate broadband test equipment.
    • Effectively use preventive maintenance programs by rebuilding aerial/buried/underground cables.
    • Effectively use Loop Internet’s internal programs and dispatch program to complete assignments.
    • Navigate the web, set up Business/Residential computer(s) and demonstrate applications to customers.
    • Read and interpret Outside Plant drawings.

Qualifications

    • 4+ years of Installation/OSP experience, including fiber installation, splicing, and/or construction.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience leading a team in a fast-paced industry.
    • Highly capable in Excel and Microsoft Suites with proficiency in data capture, analysis, and presentation.
    • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Experience with Fiber Optic construction and maintenance, transmission/noise isolation, sealed plant repair and/or operation of all types of heavy equipment.
    • Four (4) years of experience in telecommunications installation and maintenance is preferred.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of all types of splicing activity, cable and safety test equipment and/or use of all types of cable construction equipment
    • Basic AC/DC Theory
    • Good safety record
    • Knowledge in First Aid & CPR
    • Must possess and maintain a valid state approved driver’s license for required vehicle(s) and satisfactory driving record.

    • Ability to use and proficiency of all equipment related to cable/fiber splicing.
    • Ability to operate equipment to perform the essential functions of the job (i.e. various splicing tools, test equipment, telephone, computer/laptop, company vehicle, cable plow, ohmmeter, locator, line truck and/or aerial devices, various hand/power, splicing and testing tools, shovel and rake, transmission, noise and isolation equipment, attenuation test sets, OTDR, fusion splicing and mechanical fiber splicing tools).
    • Simple and complex mathematical skills.
    • Ability to be unaffected by flashing lights and strobes.
    • Ability to maintain a professional manner and appearance at all times.
    • Ability to drive on behalf of the company in a safe and responsible manner.
$22 - $30 an hour
