We are looking for a detail-oriented GIS technician. A GIS Technician is a unique and exciting role responsible for mapping our fiber optic infrastructure. You will be responsible for inputting address and location data into our mapping systems and associated work including verifying cable routes, cable fiber size, MST and splice enclosure placement, and cable records.

Duties and Responsibilities

    • Inputting GIS location data for residential, business, and MDU addresses.
    • Proactive review of outside plant facilities to verify accuracy
    • Maintain accurate cable records and updates
    • Assist with project cost estimates and budgets
    • Update records according to As-Builts
    • Support sales, marketing, operations and regulatory as needed.
    • Communicate with all peers and departments to insure proper project planning

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Knowledge of outside plant activity and engineering tools to include AutoCAD, Vetro Fibermap, etc.
    • Critical thinking skills, problem solving, and the ability to adapt to changing requirements.
    • Organizational skills, communication skills (written and verbal) and customer relations will be utilized in achieving desired results.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with Engineering team, department managers, vendors, supervisors and technicians.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects in various stages of activity and meet critical deadlines.
    • Ability to drive on behalf of the company in a safe and responsible manner.

Education and Experience

    • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of outside plant design, cable count layout, and capacities.
    • Must possess and maintain a valid State Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.
$43,000 - $55,000 a year
Comprehensive benefits include: medical, 401k, paid sick leave and paid time off, and quarterly or yearly performance bonus.
