About the Engineering Organization:
The Engineering Team at Loop is a balance of agility, consistency, and performance. These are the pillars that allow the team to constantly and consistently deliver value that matters to customers. That customer intimacy is what allows our engineering teams to be the best in our space, and bring the best ideas to the market.

About the Role:
We’re looking for a Senior Automation Engineer to take ownership of automating high-impact, repetitive workflows across IT, Security, Compliance, and other business functions while enabling self-serve internal tooling patterns that reduce friction across the business. This role focuses on maximizing the automation and AI capabilities of our existing tools, Rippling, GitLab, GSuite, Vanta, Slack, and others, and only builds custom solutions where they provide clear, measurable business value.

You’ll partner with leaders across multiple business units to identify bottlenecks, manual processes, and gaps in operational scalability. Then you’ll implement streamlined, engineering-centric solutions that reduce costs, accelerate time to value, and improve our security and compliance posture. This is a hands-on, impact-oriented role that blends strong systems thinking with a product-minded approach to internal enablement.

Our Blended Work Environment:
At Loop, we’re intentional about the way we work so that we can do our best work. We call this our Blended Working Environment. We work from our HQ in Columbus, OH, or one of our Hub or Secluded locations, and are distributed throughout the United States, select Canadian provinces, and the United Kingdom. For this position, we’re looking for someone to join us in Columbus, OH; Chicago, IL; Austin, TX; Los Angeles, CA; or fully remote.

Our Tech Stack:
Rippling, JAMF, Google Workspace, GitLab, Slack, Jira, AWS Cloud, Vanta, Datadog, Terraform, and other SaaS platforms with built-in automation capabilities.

What You'll Do:

    • Partner with every major business function to identify repetitive tasks and manual workflows that can be replaced with automation and integrations.
    • Build or extend automations that reduce audit burden, reduce toil and repetitive tasks, speed up employee lifecycle processes, and cut operational overhead.
    • Maximize native features in tools like Rippling, Vanta, Slack, and Gitlab to improve efficiency and reduce the need for custom development.
    • Automate security and compliance guardrails, including GitLab pipeline integrations, access reviews, anomaly detection, and evidence collection.
    • Enable internal self-serve tools and workflows for developers and business users alike, using established patterns and templates.
    • Drive a central automation backlog, meeting regularly with stakeholders to refine priorities based on measurable impact.
    • Serve as the technical owner for cross-functional automation initiatives, bringing engineering rigor to internal tooling.
    • Layer AI tools and copilots onto existing infrastructure to empower non-engineers to build, automate, and operate with confidence, establishing guardrails that ensure security, compliance, and maintainability at scale.

Your Experience:

    • 5+ years in automation engineering, systems engineering, internal tooling, or related technical roles with a strong focus on reducing manual effort.
    • Proven track record of building automations that eliminate toil across IT, Security, Compliance, or other business functions.
    • Deep familiarity with platforms like Rippling, JAMF, Vanta, GSuite, Slack, GitLab, and cloud infrastructure, particularly their APIs, admin surfaces, and automation workflows.
    • Strong scripting and integration skills; comfortable orchestrating solutions using APIs, webhooks, CLI tools, and low-code/no-code platforms.
    • Experience designing infrastructure-as-code and reusable automation patterns that scale across teams and tools.
    • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 or similar, and experience building automation that supports audit readiness and security posture.
    • Confidently engaging directly with stakeholders to surface pain points, define success metrics, and deliver high-impact automation aligned to business priorities.
    • Demonstrated ability to deliver usable, documented internal tooling with minimal overhead and long-term maintainability.
    • Strong prioritization instincts; able to assess and balance competing needs using sound judgment to drive outcomes that maximize value and reduce operational drag.
    • Proven ability to operate independently in a senior capacity, navigating ambiguity, building cross-functional relationships, and self-prioritizing work without constant direction.
    • Bonus points if you have built an internal LLM Agent. We’d love to hear about it!
