Lorentz Bio is a research company working on a moonshot goal. Candidates can look forward to joining the founding team and building a well-resourced research program, with access to infrastructure, engineering talent, and operational capacity not available in a conventional academic context.

As Lorentz Bio’s Mechanical Engineer you will contribute to the development of our internal roadmap. In this position, you will head multiple projects focused on thermal and fluidic systems design, electromagnetic systems design, and data processing and analysis, to support the research being done at Lorentz.


Key qualifications

    • You’ve completed an undergraduate, masters, or PhD in engineering with 3+ years of industry or postdoc experience in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, software engineering, bioengineering, physics, or a related discipline.
    • A strong record of accomplishment in your field, including publications, presentations, and/or patents.
    • Proven track record in delivering complex and high profile products, including managing and mobilizing resources, and delivering to time and quality expectations within budget.
    • Strong people management skills, including developing and motivating direct reports, colleagues and consultants.
    • Exceptional organizational skills.
    • Strong understanding of engineering principles.

Preferred qualifications

    • Extensive experience with computer-aided design (CAD) and multi-physics simulations
    • Extensive experience in thermodynamics and heat transfer, especially in biological systems
    • Extensive experience in fluid mechanics, especially bioprocessing or perfusion systems
    • Strong controls engineering skills, and the ability to implement controls on a microprocessor or microcontroller based system
    • An understanding of biophysics
