At Cradle, we are optimistic that human whole-body reversible cryopreservation is solvable. We’ve built a world-class multidisciplinary team and raised $48M to tackle this problem. Our multidisciplinary team combines physiology, engineering, and translational medicine to push the boundaries of cryobiology and extracorporeal support. Candidates can look forward to joining the founding team with access to infrastructure, engineering talent, and operational capacity not available in a conventional academic context.

We are seeking a full-time Rodent Microsurgeon to join our Medical Hibernation team. Initial responsibilities will include working with our team to develop a whole-body perfusion system, as well as establishing platforms for assaying functionality of multiple organ systems. As our work progresses, long-term objectives include systematic evaluation of organ function (heart, liver, lung, kidney) post-perfusion and the iterative refinement of perfusion parameters to enhance physiological outcomes and model fidelity.

Key Responsibilities

    • Execute and troubleshoot whole-body perfusion, monitor and maintain central physiological parameters (pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, blood gas, etc).
    • Evaluate the structure and function of multiple tissues/organs (heart, lung, muscles) following perfusion.
    • Establish robust organ transplant models.
    • Maintain good surgical hygiene and ensure compliance with IACUC and institutional ethical standards.

Required Qualifications

    • You have completed an MD/PhD/DVM or equivalent experience in animal surgery.
    • Demonstrate extensive knowledge in the functional evaluation of multiple organs and tissue systems.
    • Demonstrate expertise in rodent microsurgery, particularly vascular surgery (2+ years experience). Demonstrate xtensive knowledge of rodent microvasculature.
    • Preferred: Extensive experience in rodent organ transplants.
    • You demonstrate agency, problem solving, passion for discovery, and a drive to push the boundaries of science through meaningful involvement in an ambitious project.
    • Desire to work in a laboratory setting

Benefits

    • Direct influence on a moon-shot scientific program with clear translational impact.
    • Competitive compensation package, including salary and equity.
    • Generous medical, dental and vision insurance coverage for employees and dependents.
    • Flexible time off and paid holidays.
    • Access to a 401(k) retirement savings plan.
    • FSA and commuter benefits.
    • Subsidized lunch daily.
    • Budget and time allocation for professional development and conference travel.
$150,000 - $200,000 a year
We look forward to reviewing your application and having you join our team at Cradle as we embark on the journey of scientific discovery.
