Lorentz Bio is a research company working on a moonshot goal. Candidates can look forward to joining the founding team and building a well-resourced research program, with access to infrastructure, engineering talent, and operational capacity not available in a conventional academic context.

About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated full-time Research Associate to join our founding team. As a Research Associate, you will play a vital role in the scientific progress of our well-funded research program. The primary focus of this role is on implementing and running experiments on neural tissue, with an emphasis on perfusion surgery, brain dissection, histology, electrophysiology, and development / execution of novel tissue treatment protocols. These experiments will involve assessing the structure and function of neural tissue following various interventions.

Responsibilities:
• Organize and execute perfusion, histology, and chemistry experiments with guidance and collaboration from our scientific team. Core methods include vascular cannulation surgery, vibratome and cryostat brain sectioning, multielectrode array electrophysiology experiments, and much more.
• Prepare/maintain experimental equipment and supplies, including solution preparation, rodent handling, and clean-up.
• Develop, document, and maintain organizational systems for experiments, data, protocols, and other related materials.
• Ensure accurate sample treatment and acquire microscope images.
• Conduct timely data reporting through established pipelines for image processing, cell quantification, neural spike detection, and more.

As our laboratory operations progress, you will have the opportunity to engage with a growing variety of scientific methods inspired by first principles of biology, physics, and chemistry. Creative scientific engagement is encouraged, and new avenues for discovery and optimization are continuously supported.

Qualifications:
• You’ve completed an undergraduate degree in STEM with 2+ years of relevant experience in Neuroscience, Cell Biology, or a related field (Industrial or Academic).
• Experience conducting dissection or histology assays, and/or demonstrated ability to learn quickly.
• Desire to work in a laboratory setting.
• Demonstrate creativity, problem solving, passion for discovery, and a drive to push the boundaries of science.
• Show enthusiasm for meaningful involvement in an ambitious project.

Benefits:
• A unique opportunity to learn rapidly and take on deep involvement.
• Medical and dental insurance coverage.
• Flexible time off and paid holidays.
• Competitive compensation package, including salary and equity.
• Access to a 401(k) retirement savings plan.

We look forward to reviewing your application and having you join our team at Lorentz Bio as we embark on the journey of scientific discovery.
