At Cradle, we are optimistic that human whole-body reversible cryopreservation is solvable. We’ve built a world-class multidisciplinary team and raised $48M to tackle this problem.

We are a research company working to develop technologies that procure better-matched organs for transplant patients and help patients pause their biological time until cures for fatal diseases become available. Candidates can look forward to joining the founding team with access to infrastructure, engineering talent, and operational capacity not available in a conventional academic context.

About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated full-time Rodent Microsurgeon to join our founding team. As Rodent Microsurgeon, you will play a vital role in the scientific progress of our research program. The primary focus of this role is on implementing and performing rodent microsurgeries, with an emphasis on organ isolation, cannulation, transplant, and viability evaluation. As our work progresses, the Rodent Microsurgeon will play a critical role in scaling our technology from individual organs to multi-organ systems.

Responsibilities

    • Establish rat organ isolation, ex-vivo evaluation, and transplant protocols
    • Perform organ isolation and transplant surgeries in rats
    • Evaluate health of organs and organ systems following cryopreservation and work within scientific team to optimize preservation protocol
    • Maintain surgical room, including ordering and aseptic methods where necessary

    • As our laboratory operations progress, you will have the opportunity to engage with a growing variety of scientific methods inspired by first principles of biology, physics, and chemistry. Creative scientific engagement is encouraged, and new avenues for discovery and optimization are continuously supported.

Qualifications

    • You’ve completed an undergraduate degree, with graduate training or significant industry experience in a related field.
    • You have 2+ years experience and an excellent record of success performing rodent transplant and/or ex-vivo organ evaluation.
    • Desire to work in a laboratory setting.
    • You have experience / demonstrated interest in physiology, with a creative approach to understanding and addressing effects on vital functions of organs and the whole body.
    • You demonstrate agency, problem solving, passion for discovery, and a drive to push the boundaries of science through meaningful involvement in an ambitious project.
