Lorentz Bio is hiring talented, ambitious scientists to form our founding team and reimagine the scientific field and industry of cryopreservation.  

Candidates can look forward to helping set up and scale a well-funded research program in collaboration with a world-class team of scientists and engineers with diverse technical backgrounds.

This role will be initially based in Boston with potential to relocate to the Bay Area in the next year.

Role responsibilities:

    • Design and execute experiments and assays for measuring the biological and functional preservation of the brain following cryopreservation 
    • Build and manage a technical team, including scientists, histologists, and medical imaging technicians.
    • Work closely with an interdisciplinary team of chemists, neuroscientists, and engineers to improve cryopreservation methods
    • Collaborate with academic researchers and CROs

Key qualifications

    • A PhD in biology, physiology, bioengineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience
    • Experience with histology and/or microscopy techniques
    • Experience with tissue preparation for omics assays (i.e. single cell transcriptomics)
    • Experience working with large animals (i.e. pigs)

Preferred Qualifications

    • Expertise in medical imaging (MRI)
    • Experience with single cell sequencing, super-resolution microscopy, and/or single-molecule biology  
    • Expertise in in cryobiology, cell injury (i.e. ischemia), hibernation biology, or toxicology

    • You are motivated by improving human health, and optimistic about our ability to make significant breakthroughs in our lifetime. You should have a deeply scientific approach to moonshot project claims - interested in ambitious projects by default, but calibrated to the evidence required for the claims being made.
    • You have a collaborative mindset. Ideally, you’ve worked with others on hard projects you can tell us about in the past. Building hard tech with a team is the metric for success.
