We are an aerospace R&D company building experimental and certified airships. We are developing advanced technologies to dramatically increase the capabilities and lower the cost of 21st-century airships. 

We’re seeking an experienced Design Engineer with aerospace/mechanical engineering experience to help us build a ‘lighter than air’ flight vehicle. This position will serve as the responsible engineer for various soft structure projects. These projects involve the outer cover interface to airship flight vehicle systems. This role will take prototypes to flight ready products. We believe in fast-cycle research and development, with the motto “build a little, test a little, learn a lot.”  The candidate must be able to understand existing systems and their implementation, then architect test strategies and tools to ensure solid deliverables. 

Responsibilities

    • Design of soft goods flight hardware
    • Selection of materials
    • Hand calculations for structural analysis
    • Coordinate across teams for testing, modeling, fabricating, and validating design
    • Test matrix creation and execution
    • Documentation for manufacturing creation/review
    • Create requirements for products selected/designed
    • Project Management
    • Conduct and attend project meetings

Qualifications

    • BS Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
    • Experience with SolidWorks and Autocad 5 to 10 years
    • MS Office software suite
    • Basic administrative functions via computer access
    • Understanding of  Project Management process 
    • Positive attitude
    • Works well with others
