LTA Research and Exploration has an opening for a motivated Risk Manager to join our team and build ‘lighter than air’ flight vehicles. You will work within a group of leaders and managers to manage associated aviation risks with innovative solutions of large experimental flight vehicles. We believe in fast-cycle development and approach to flight hardware development with the motto “build a little, test a little, learn a lot”. This unique position allows for hand-on participation through all phases of development, from concept to flight of an experimental aerospace vehicle.
We are seeking a high energy, self-starting, and passionate Risk Manager to help facilitate these risks as we embark on the flight testing journey of Pathfinder 1.

Responsibilities

    • Cultivates a safe and secure operating environment by identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential risks
    • Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Risk Matrix, overseeing its development, implementation, and maintenance
    • Ensures the accuracy, integrity, and security of all safety-related data, reports, and records
    • Manages the technical aspects of the consolidated information and data platform for Safety Assurance inputs, including design, development, deployment, and continuous improvement
    • Collaborates in the establishment and ongoing refinement of safety performance metrics and goals aligned with the Safety Management System (SMS)
    • Contributes to the risk management system by providing insights derived from daily activities
    • Ensures the proper handling and disposal of all safety documents, reports, records, analysis, and correspondence
    • Develops and maintains SMS-compliant documentation of safety data collection, analysis, and dissemination processes
    • Schedules, coordinates, and facilitates risk-related meetings
    • Manages and produces risk assessment meeting agendas/presentations
    • Oversees the timely completion of all risk assessment outputs, including corrective actions, recommendations, and escalations
    • Maintains a comprehensive corporate hazard and risk registry
    • Creates, monitors, and ensures adherence to risk processes & procedures

Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Engineering, or a related field
    • 5+ years of experience in safety management and risk assessment (aviation safety highly preferred)
    • Passion for aviation 
    • Proven expertise in risk management methodologies and tools
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office / Google gSuite 
    • Experience with RiskyProject

The base salary range for this role is $110,000 to $160,000, which is determined based on experience, geography, and qualifications. The base salary is one component of the total compensation package, which includes a very competitive annual bonus, 401K Match, and other generous benefits.
