As the Director - Quality & Safety, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive quality management system (QMS) and safety management system (SMS) that complies with all relevant aviation regulations and industry best practices. Your dedication to meticulous procedures, continuous improvement, and fostering a culture of safety will be instrumental in our success.

Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement: A robust QMS and SMS aligned with 14 CFR Part 21, ISO 9001, and other relevant standards.
    • Oversee: All quality control and safety activities throughout the manufacturing process, including inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
    • Lead a team: Of quality and safety professionals, ensuring they have the necessary training and resources to excel.
    • Analyze and investigate: Quality and safety incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
    • Maintain and review: All quality and safety documentation, ensuring compliance with regulations and internal procedures.
    • Collaborate with: Engineering, manufacturing, flight operations, finance, program and other departments to ensure quality and safety are integrated into all aspects of our operations.
    • Stay current: On the latest aviation regulations, industry best practices, and emerging technologies for quality and safety improvement.
    • Represent the company at relevant audits and inspections by regulatory authorities.
    • Foster a culture: Of safety, continuous improvement, and commitment to quality among all employees.
    • Ability to present: To leadership and corporate level staff at all hands, board meetings, etc.

Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Aviation Safety or a related field.
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in aviation manufacturing, preferably with aircraft.
    • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful QMS and SMS programs.
    • Oversees and participates in the recruitment, hiring, and training of employees.
    • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing quality and/or safety teams.
    • Strong understanding of quality control principles and procedures.
    • Knowledge of FAA regulations and certification requirements for airship components is a plus.
    • Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
    • In-depth knowledge of 14 CFR Part 21, ISO 9001, and other relevant quality and safety standards.
    • Data-driven approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement using industry standard tools (RCCA, FMEA, etc). 
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
    • OSHA 30 certified preferred 
    • ASQ certifications (CQE, CQM, CQA)
    • Knowledge of six sigma practices

Physical Requirements

    • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
    • Must be able to sit/stand/walk for extended periods.
The base salary range for this role is $185,000 to $250,000, which is determined based on experience, geography, and qualifications. The base salary is one component of the total compensation package, which includes a very competitive annual bonus, 401K Match, and other generous benefits.
