We’re seeking a hands-on and strategic Director of People Operations to help us build a revolutionary ‘lighter than air’ flight vehicle in Akron, OH. You will develop and grow an HR & Recruiting team to help enable the organization to conceptualize, prototype, and test our experimental flight vehicle. 

Our ideal candidate is a mission-driven, passionate people leader who can help the organization manage change, codify processes, and become a local talent brand of choice. You will be responsible for leading people program developments, empowering your team, and contributing to the road map for scaling our organization. In this role, you will report directly to the CEO.


    • Develop and implement people-first, short and long-range organization goals, strategic plans, policies, processes, and operating systems to shape and drive an engaging, and equitable employee experience
    • Evaluate programmatic effectiveness of HR/Recruiting initiatives 
    • Consult on the entirety of our recruiting lifecycle as well as tech integration
    • Elevate our total compensation strategy while centering inclusivity and equity for attraction/retention purposes
    • Design systems and workflows for compliance audits, classification changes, and other aspects of the employee lifecycle
    • Recommend new and improved measures for performance management including goal setting, feedback, and reviews
    • Build strong and effective relationships with the leadership team, managers, and employees to become a trusted partner and coach throughout the organization
    • Manage and report on employee engagement and facilitate resolution of any employee issues
    • Act as a brand ambassador and develop our Employer Brand Strategy globally as well as in targeted markets
    • Produce outcomes with a focus on critical business demands while building trust, influencing, and managing upwards and across the organization
    • Lead a team of passionate, enthusiastic People/Talent professionals
    • Develop and implement organizational communications plans, program adoption plans, and other company developments


    • 10 + years of experience in HR/Recruiting (preferably in a leadership capacity)
    • Established credibility at every organizational level specifically as a trusted coach to the executive team
    • Experience as an operations architect, able to define and build scalable processes and workflows for a more efficient and effective HR/Recruiting Function
    • Operational mindset that can breakdown challenges and design clear adoption/implementation schedules
    • Proven people management skills centering collaboration, performance maximization, and a growth mindset culture
    • Knowledgable of relevant state and federal compliance considerations, and has proven success with Employee Relations initiatives
    • Understanding and experience with Employer Branding and Recruitment Marketing strategies
    • Ability to articulate team/global ideas clearly, thoughtfully, and succinctly through different channels
    • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills as well as High EQ

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior experience in Aviation, Aerospace, Manufacturing, or Automotive verticals
    • Experience building HR/Rec tech stacks and managing the respective vendors
    • Degrees in HR, Labor Relations, Social Science, Business, etc.
    • Relevant Designations, Certifications, and any other professional Affiliations
    • Proven success at high-growth, early, or mid-stage companies known for their focus on an exceptional employee experience, talent, and trust
