About the role:
Application engineers at Lumafield are experts in our industries and/or our product features. They work closely with the engineering, product, and research teams to understand what our products are capable of and communicate and configure those features successfully for customers. An Application Engineer begins by bringing a solid foundation in engineering and industry experience, then excels by diving head-first into our product portfolio and quickly becoming the internal Lumafield expert in their vertical. Forward-deployed engineers spend most of their time in our offices building their skills and mastering our products, but will also spend significant time on customer calls and at customer facilities to ensure that our customers can achieve their goals with our products.

What you'll do:
- Specialize in understanding how Lumafield’s products can best serve our Aerospace and Defense customers
- Spend most of your time in pre-sales contexts either speaking to our capabilities during calls and visits or demonstrating our products live or in structured evaluations
- Work closely with product, engineering, and research teams to build expertise
- Quickly become the Lumafield expert and point person for technical Aerospace and Defense knowledge
- Work closely with Account Executives on pre-sales calls to communicate our product capabilities, scope deals, and become an expert resource
- Work closely with Customer Success on post-sales calls, deployments, and set-up to ensure customers in your specialization are reaching their goals and expectations
- Spend most of your time in our Lumafield Los Angeles (El Segundo) office (80% of time, on average) while also regularly traveling to customers to support their missions (20% of time, on average). Travel will be less frequent, but up to a few weeks at a time depending on customer and role.
About you:
- Bring experience or passion for the specialization in this job posting
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar experience
- 5+ years working in the Aerospace and Defense industry
- 2+ years of working in technical pre-sales in the Aerospace and Defense industry
- Strong desire to learn more about adjacent engineering disciplines and drive to take advantage of this opportunity to build your skill

$125,000 - $150,000 a year
