At LumiQ, we’re on a mission to make professional education enjoyable. As a modern, audio-first learning platform, we empower accounting and finance professionals to fulfill their continuing professional development requirements through engaging podcasts. Over the past five years, we’ve cultivated a devoted customer base of over 1,000 corporate and accounting firms across North America.
LumiQ is proud to be a 2024 Deloitte Fast 50 winner. We’re creating awesome proprietary content, nailing our go-to-market strategy, and being the first to shake up the industry. Most recently, we secured a strategic investment from Vertu Capital to fuel our expansion globally and continue executing on our exponential growth plans.
LumiQ is also a certified Great Place to Work! We’re all about transparency, ownership, innovation, and empathy. If you’re ready to make a real impact and help us transform professional education, we’d love to hear from you!
We’re looking for a Senior Podcast Editor to join our Special Features team, where we create high-production, long-form narrative stories that explore fascinating business topics.
How did one family turn a value-less commodity into a century-long diamond empire? Could organizational structure have been the cause of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill? What happened to the employee who blew the whistle on the Wirecard fraud?
Our Special Features are our most ambitious, highest impact, and highest listened-to episodes on our platform. As Senior Podcast Editor, you’ll help ensure each episode is clear, compelling, and delivers real value to our audience of business professionals. You’ll act as both coach and critic, working closely with producers to help them find the right angle, improve structure, and elevate the tone and delivery of their work. You’ll also play a key role in helping the team scale, ensuring we maintain our unique tone and quality as we increase our production cadence.
Special Features aren’t just about telling a good story. They’re deep dives that blend curiosity, creativity, and business insight to engage and inform our audience. This is LumiQ’s unique editorial challenge: integrating story and learnings into a cohesive narrative. Production expertise might give you strong editorial and story judgment, while a business background might give you subject matter fluency. But we aren’t just looking for one or the other. Your role will be to ensure that every Special Feature finds the harmony between relevant learning outcomes and engaging story.
Who You Are
- You have 5+ years of experience in long-form, narrative podcasting or documentary-style storytelling, with a strong track record of editing serialized, story-driven content.
- You bring editorial leadership: our style is evolving and there’s plenty of room to experiment with structure and tone, but you can take a rough pitch or a messy outline and identify what’s missing and what needs elevating.
- You have a demonstrated ability to integrate complex topics (bonus if they’re financial or strategic business concepts) into a narrative.
- You’re a coach and collaborator: you know how to give clear, constructive feedback to help producers level up, without taking the work over.
- While you won’t be editing tape directly, you’re familiar with podcasting workflows and DAWs (e.g. Descript, Pro Tools).
- You’re business-curious: while you don’t need to be a CPA or have an MBA, you’re comfortable navigating business frameworks and economic contexts. You like to get nerdy, even if it’s not in your area of expertise.
What You'll Be Responsible
- Story Editing & Development
- Collaborate with producers to identify the right angle, scope, and narrative arc for each episode, balancing storytelling with education
- Guide the integration of interview tape and scripting for maximum clarity and impact
- Uphold high production quality, including appropriate host tone and sound design that enhances (without distracting from) the story
- Business Relevance & Learning Integration
- Evaluate story relevance, appropriateness of depth, and applicability for an audience of business and finance professionals
- Identify and clarify learning outcomes that emerge from the narrative – without oversimplifying
- Ensure episodes strike the right tone: never a lecture, always engaging and substantive
- Producer Coaching & Feedback
- Coach producers through multiple revision cycles, holding them to a high quality standard to help them grow in their abilities
- Provide clear, actionable feedback on outlines, scripts, pitches, and rough edits
- Troubleshoot complex narrative challenges (whether structural, tonal, educational, or thematic)
