We’re LumiQ – an audio-first professional education platform for CPAs. We help CPAs get their continuing professional development (CPD) hours through engaging podcasts with business leaders (the CFOs of Slack, Shopify, Yelp, Yahoo!, TD Bank, and Wealthsimple just to name a few). CPD/CPE is the yearly required learning that CPAs generally dread doing. They’re tired of dealing with boring webinars, irrelevant content and product experiences that are out-of-date. That’s why they’ve flocked to LumiQ and our mission to make professional learning enjoyable.

With hundreds of companies signed up, we’re at the precipice of launching a global movement that’s going to massively change the professional education and podcasting industries. Following our recent Series A, we’ve expanded into the US market and are seeing wonderful early signs of traction.

Despite our lightning growth, we tend not to subscribe to the mantra of “move fast and break things.” Our goal is to build a profitable company, where our employees can learn and grow, and where customers see real value and genuinely enjoy using the product. We are building a company meant to last, and if this resonates with you, we hope you will consider joining us on our journey to transform professional education!

As an associate producer working on special features, you’ll be working on high impact episodes that weave professional learning into narrative podcasts. These episodes are highly creative and story driven, and our clients just can’t get enough of them! Past examples of these episodes include Netflix Goes to India, Wrexham AFC: Red Cards in Asset Management, and How Ticketmaster Became the Anti-Hero of the Live Music Industry - Part 1. This role will be the second hire on the team, and will work with our Senior Producer to take these episodes from pitch to production to publish.

YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

    • Audio Production: You will be very hands on with production duties. This includes recording and voice coaching, help with interview recordings, editing and organizing audio tape from our guests, archive clips, host narration, as well as sourcing initial music with audio engineers. Don’t worry if you can’t do all of these things yet, we can help guide you!
    • Assisting with researching episodes: We deeply research every narrative episode. You should be comfortable sifting through sources such as articles, research papers, analyses, and financial documents to deepen our understanding of each episode's learning objectives.
    • Guest booking and communications: We record with 2-5 guests per episode. We strive to find experts in finance, business, and relevant industries that can speak to the learnings of each episode. We also look for good storytellers with an entertaining point of view. You should feel comfortable writing engaging cold emails and implementing other non-traditional strategies to secure guests. You will be their primary resource for booking outline calls and recording times, shipping microphones, etc.
    • Writing: In post-production, our episodes require a variety of written content. You will support producers with crafting titles and descriptions, formulating quiz questions, and creating visual aids.
    • Helping develop the special features playbook: This is a new role for our team, and you will play a key role in developing what the future of the special features team looks like! You should be comfortable building new processes, and raising a hand when you think a process or workflow doesn’t make sense. Strong project management and communication skills will be paramount to success in this role.

WHO YOU ARE:

    • Deeply curious: You love diving deep into stories to understand the full picture. You’re not afraid to do your own research to uncover every detail about a story.
    • A forever learner: You love to be challenged by new concepts, stories, and perspectives. We aren’t looking for someone with a specific professional background or prerequisites. Whether you come from production, finance & business, academia…the important thing is that you are hungry to learn.
    • A storyteller: You understand that the best way to deliver information is through a great story. You think critically about story structure and the right way to make an educational story engaging.
    • Detail oriented: This role will require strong project management and communication on many moving pieces, as you will work on more than one episode at a time. You should be comfortable juggling these tasks while not letting things slip through the cracks.
    • Flexible: We will iterate on workflows and formats as we develop the team. You should be comfortable with project managing and communicating through changing processes. This role also works on highly creative projects where sometimes there is more than one right answer. You should be comfortable communicating your ideas and sometimes moving forward with your idea, and other times moving forward with someone else’s.
    • A podcast lover: In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to get deep in the weeds on narrative podcast production. Whether you’re just starting out or have worked in the industry before, you are excited to gain experience in every part of the production process, and to have the opportunity to grow into a role that suits your skills and interests.
If you think your experience is most of the way there we’d still love to meet you!
