We are looking for a knowledgeable Virtualization Consultant for our Calgary branch to support our clients with patching, implementation, escalation support, and storage creation for one of Long Views clients! This role will be based out of the client site in Calgary.
A Day in the Life:
- Conduct patching and identifying automation opportunities around maintaining and monitoring Red Hat Linux operating system
- Supporting Virtualization, storage management, and migration
- Supporting VMware vSphere operations and VM installation procedures
- Develop unique strategies to implement, support, and protect software systems, data centers, and servers
- Work within a highly regulated environment and other IT groups
- Support and diagnosis of technical issues involving servers, storage, DNS, and other systems
- Deploy and support for installation of virtual infrastructure (Azure and VSphere)
- Manage VMware vSphere and Azure environments, which may include network, storage, server infrastructure, application systems, and database systems
- Act as an escalation point on a critical server, virtualization issues for other teams
- Creating and maintaining the virtual server, storage, and data center documentation
- Work closely with the security team to implement security recommendations.
- Participate in the implementation of network and system security measures to protect data, software, and hardware
- Recommend the implementation of new technologies and processes
- Participate in recommending changes to improve systems and such changes
What You Bring:
- 4+ years of experience supporting a broad range of Linux and Windows servers (bare metal and virtualized)
- 4+ years of experience working with Linux operating systems (primarily Red Hat), conducting patching, automation and monitoring
- Experience working with: RedHat Satellite, RedHat Insights
- Intermediate Scripting skills (shell/bash/python/powershell)
- Ability to implement, and support IT virtualization and storage infrastructure
- Intermediate technical knowledge of VSphere virtualization stack
- Intermediate Azure knowledge relating to VM turnup, management, migrations, Azure Update Manager
- Intermediate Scripting skills (shell/bash/python/powershell)
- Familiarity with managing Docker containers
- Ability to work with different teams (operations, Network, Cybersecurity, CIP Analysts)
- Ability and willingness to follow the incident, problem, crisis, and change management processes
- Self-motivated and driven attitude – you’re always looking for ways to improve skills and stay relevant in a given area of expertise

$90 - $100 an hour
Expected hourly earnings is between $90 - $100 /HR
