At Lyterian Therapeutics, we are committed to developing medicines for patients in need by co-opting physiologically-relevant protein homeostatic mechanisms to regulate genetically-validated targets.
We are hiring for our cohort of summer undergraduate interns in the following departments: Biology, Biophysics, Chemistry, and Structural Biology.
In the Biology group, you will work with our biologists to run and establish biological and cellular assays to uncover novel biology. You may also help with biochemical and molecular biology assays, like CRISPR, qPCR, and DNA/RNA extractions, as well as high-throughput screening (HTS), and learning cell culture techniques and computational approaches for data analysis.
In the Biophysics group, you will work with our scientists to purify and characterize proteins and protein complexes relevant to our research. In addition, you may also help in establishing novel biophysical binding assays relevant to our protein degradation drug discovery platform and programs. This could involveusing techniques such as surface plasmon resonance (SPR), Spectral Shift / TRIC, differential scanning fluorimetry (DSF), and Mass Photometry.
In the Chemistry group, you will work with our chemists to learn principles for medicinal chemistry, leveraging organic synthesis and computationally driven small molecule drug design. You may use techniques such as reaction setup, workup, and purification, learn about compound management, and analytical testing (QC).
In the Structural Biology group, you will work with our scientists to express, purify, and characterize proteins and protein complexes. In addition, you may also work on structural biology techniques like crystallography and cryo-EM.
This will be a great learning experience for rising juniors and seniors, no matter which group you are a part of. Qualifications:
- Rising junior or senior at a college/university on track to receive a BA/BS in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field
- Hands-on experience in a laboratory setting (includes coursework labs)
- Experience in a research laboratory setting is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to synthesize and communicate scientific concepts
- Keen attention to detail
- Initiative and boldness to dive into a fast-paced new startup
$25 - $25 an hour
