Madison Energy Infrastructure (“MEI”) believes in the power of clean energy infrastructure and has quickly emerged as a preeminent developer, investor, asset owner, and operator of distributed generation. This role represents a critical next step in MEI’s evolution toward offering direct, end-to-end services to Fortune 500 corporates, public entities, nonprofits, and other private customers alike and building out development pipelines to finance renewable energy projects with our development partners.
The Senior Manager, Project Acquisitions will be instrumental in driving project acquisition goals to achieve MEI’s ambitions for accelerating organic growth by investing in people and achieving operational excellence, expanding into new markets and technologies and building development pipelines through project acquisition. This position is best filled by a multi-disciplined, self-starter with excellent leadership skills and strong renewables experience and someone that enjoys working directly with internal and external partners to drive project acquisitions.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Manage MEI’s project acquisition process across all lines-of-business, working directly with solar and energy storage project developers and cross-functionally with internal MEI teams to meet quarterly, annual and long-term goals.
- Act as main point of contact for all commercial deal points for developers and project partners throughout acquisition processes.
- Formulate transaction structures with Business Development team to ensure successful and efficient handoffs from LOI into core transaction process and lead due diligence and closing processes by directly reviewing key documents and deliverables and facilitating review by key technical experts and legal professionals.
- Work directly with legal team to ensure successful drafting, negotiation, and execution of high quality, bankable purchase agreements, engineering, procurement and construction agreements, power purchase agreements, site control agreements, interconnection agreements, and others.
- Train new team members involved in diligence and assisting in project work, including managing tasks on various projects, delegation of appropriate workstreams, and oversight of key deliverables.
- Develop and communicate evidence-based, strategically sound recommendations for key decisions with the EVP of M&A and Director of Project Acquisitions and other senior leaders as needed.
- Create strategies and tactics for how to streamline acquisition processes while ensuring successful and robust diligence processes remain for reviewing project-specific agreements, reports and documentation.
- Work with teams across the business to generate innovative solutions and efficient processes, and drive projects toward successful closing while ensuring strong developer and partner experiences and internal communication between frontline sales, engineering, finance and operations team.
- Drive innovation and process enhancement and serve as a change agent throughout the organization.
- Ensure adoption and collaboration, knowledge sharing, and best practices among partners and colleagues to help establish a robust project acquisition ecosystem.
What We Are Looking For:
- Broad understanding of renewable energy landscape, including distributed generation and utility scale solar, storage, and EV charging infrastructure and trends with deeper technical understanding in one or more areas.
- Experience in a similar role leading several transactions through financial close, including direct involvement in diligence processes and transaction document negotiation.
- Working familiarity with key transactional and legal terminology common in renewable energy.
- Proven leadership of successful cross-functional projects.
- Understanding of core business processes and financing landscape.
- An innovative and disruptive mindset, constantly looking forward.
- Strong written and oral communication skills required.
- Fluency with Microsoft suite, particularly in Word with legal contracts and Excel discounted cashflow (DCF) financial models.
- Comfort with broad sets of deliverables and ability to set and execute on priorities.
$150,000 - $190,000 a year
The actual salary offered may vary depending on job-related factors including, but not limited to knowledge, skills, experience and location.
