About the Role:
A Senior Backend Engineer at Madison Logic designs, develops and take ownership of key systems. You will evaluate and make technical decisions within the context of the larger project and application stack. You need to analyze the impacts of technical decisions on other system components and ensure quality, scalable code is created. A Senior Backend Engineer must be willing and able to mentor other engineers within the Madison Logic team.

Our senior engineers provide technical leadership and direction to the team and share their opinions and experiences effectively. You will be a driving force on a team that is building and maintaining a best in breed application stack with a focus on our data driven APIs.

Responsibilities:

    • Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) management in Agile: You must have demonstrated experience working with Product Owners and Management to plan solutions, manage resources and deliver quality on time
    • Code For Quality: Strong understanding of what it takes to design quality in Software, and Build world-class products, which combine usability, accessibility, elegance, performance, and maintainability
    • Third Party Integration: including build and document third party integrations for Data connections using appropriate technologies and architectures
    • Technical Definitions: Help the Leadership teams to provide tight, actionable, and provable specifications and stories to development
    • Cloud Technologies. You can Demonstrate a firm grasp of what benefits and constraints cloud deployment imposes, including performance, cost management, security and privacy implications
    • Communications: You must be a strong communicator.
    • Release Management: Help design and build a process to ensure that product releases go smoothly and predictably
    • Adopt automated and manual test strategies to ensure product quality
    • Generating reuseable code libraries and frameworks
    • Attending regular meetings with UI/UX and other front-end teams to expose back-end weaknesses and problems
    • Implementing ongoing security systems
    • Configuring the back-end usability of all front-end applications
    • Help our team grow from your expertise, experience, and perspectives.

Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree plus 6+yrs experience as a Back-end/Node.js engineer or 8+yrs experience as a Back-end engineer
    • Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms, proficient in at least one additional coding language, including but not limited to Golang, Java, Python, C++, Rust
    • Curiosity towards new technology and outstanding ability to analyze and solve problems
    • Good grasp of software engineering and how to build a system in scalable and extensive manner
    • Have experience with Google Cloud Platform or Amazon Web Services
    • Understanding of component-based development ideas, extensive experience with Angular, React, Vue.js, or any other equivalent library required
    • Understanding of concurrency, database, and message queue is a plus

Expected Compensation: (Dependent upon Experience)
Base Salary: £72,000 - £86,000
Additional Compensation (Annual Discretionary Bonus): £0 - £5,000

We are committed to paying our team equitably for their work, commensurate with their individual skills and experience.  Salary Range and additional compensation, including discretionary bonuses and incentive pay, are determined by a rigorous review process taking into account the experience, education, certifications and skills required for the specific role, equity with similarly situated team members, as well as employer-verified region-specific market data provided by an independent 3rd party partner.
