Reporting to the VP Global Headquarters Medical Affairs, the Director/Senior Director, Medical Information will be responsible for day-to-day leadership and management of medical information operations, including oversight of the medical information 3rd party call center, generation, revision and maintenance of frequently asked questions and standard response letters for use in response to unsolicited requests for both approved and investigational products for Madrigal Pharmaceuticals, and cross-functional support in execution of departmental deliverables. The AD/D, Medical Information will remain current on relevant medical/scientific therapeutic areas of interest to the company and professional standards to ensure the group is able to provide timely, accurate, balanced and compliant medical information.

Responsibilities (including, But Not Limited To)

Direct and successfully complete Medical Information operational strategies/objectives and provides medical, scientific and technical support for the Madrigal Pharmaceuticals product portfolio and/or products under clinical development

Align with cross functions, Customer Service, Pharmacovigilance, Corporate Affairs, Quality Assurance, Patient Services, so that call center provides adequate intake and triage to accountable function

Develop and execute project plans that ensure pre- and post- product launch preparedness of the Medical Information department, including support of Medical Affairs, Medical Science Liaisons, Market Access, and Commercial teams

Implement innovations with respect to quality control mechanisms, supportive systems/databases, efficient inquiry handling workstreams, and overall dissemination of scientific information

Ensure alignment of Medical Information activities with Clinical Research & Medical Affairs through development of comprehensive Medical Information plan and communication lines

Provide oversight and lead the development of medical information resource documents and in the handling of medical information requests for assigned products and therapeutic areas

Lead and execute Medical Information congress activities, including face to face attendance and provision, plus coordinating activities with commercial colleagues where relevant, to include pre and post conference [DD1] briefings and content review

Ensure all medical information content is scientifically developed and maintained to ensure current/relevant data is disseminated upon request

Manage, train and mentor Medical Information Specialists, Coordinators and contractors

Monitor and evolve 3rd party call center responsible for all Med Info triage
Provide and interrogate metrics to ensure continued service provision and Quality improvement of educational resources

Ensure suitable support to and recommend infrastructure to co-development/co- promotional partner organizations

Act as Medical Reviewer for PRC and MRC processes – full checking of referencing and medical accuracy of both promotional and non-promotional materials as required

Assist in supporting Medical Affairs initiatives including promotional review (PRC), medical review (MRC), Speaker Training, Sales Training, etc

Manage the technology needs across the Medical Information function and explore new digital innovations to meet customer needs

Lead submission(s) of compendia listings

Accountable for ensuring medical information requirements of the payer strategy for the U.S are met

Follow the vision and create a strategy to enhance or create channels for responding to unsolicited requests for medical information or communicating key scientific information about our products

Manage, train, mentor, and professionally develop junior staff members, including potential fellows and rotation students, to provide excellence in execution of department deliverables

Qualifications:

Required:

Master’s degree in pharmacy or related science (Advanced degree or PharmD preferred) with a minimum of 6+ years within the pharmaceutical industry; minimum of 3+ years of medical information experience, including MI leadership experience
 
Preferred: Experience managing a 3rd party MI provider
 
Key Skills/Knowledge:

Ability to handle multiple demands in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to exercise appropriate judgment, as necessary. Requires a high level of initiative and independence

Experience in medical writing and support of product launch preferred

Excellent project management skills

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Organizational and planning skills, detail-oriented

Experience in scientific/medical literature identification and evaluation

Highly self-motivated and able to handle multiple tasks in a timely fashion

Familiarity of PC-based applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Analytical, solutions-oriented, negotiation and strategic-thinking skills
