Senior Vice President, Business Planning and Operations
Madrigal Pharmaceuticals is seeking a highly motivated, resourceful, and resilient strategist and communicator to serve as Senior Vice President, Business Planning and Operations reporting to the CEO. This individual will play a highly influential role that will combine strategy, analysis, and operations to accelerate and enable strategic initiatives to support the growth of success of a diverse range of business functions. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for streamlining high-importance projects to support the executive direction of our CEO and the rest of Madrigal’s leadership team. The Senior Vice President, Business Planning & Operations possesses strong leadership qualities and is a detail-oriented, organized, analytical, and strategic thinker.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Support the CEO and leadership team in setting the overall strategy of the company
Drive operational and planning processes to completion in partnership with the CEO and his executive team
Distill discussions and thoughts from executive team meetings into strategic plans
Manage and own the strong execution of strategic projects that require cross-team collaboration where decision rights span across diverse business functions
Manage and execute special projects as designated by the CEO
Function as the voice of the executive suite by:
Managing preparation and creation of materials for Board meetings and/or executive team meetings
Updating the Board on progress against goals and key impact moments
Preparing presentations and updates to internal audiences, such as leadership reports, summaries of board meetings, or presentations for company-wide meetings
Working with the Public Relations and/or Investor Relations teams to manage speaking requests for the CEO
Supporting the CEO across a range of activities that require external-facing representation, from executive offsites to high-profile investor meetings
Own and continuously improve operating cadences to include executive team meetings, leadership offsites, quarterly board meetings, etc.
Support the productivity of the leadership meetings by owning the planning, agenda and notes
Offer general support; correspondence, agendas, scheduling, minute taking, etc. (core administrative support to the CEO and his executives is provided by a separate admin role)
Travel as required
Job Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is required. MBA preferred
7+ years of relevant professional management experience, with at least 2+ years’ operating within a leadership/SVP Business Planning & Operations role in biotech/biopharma/pharma environments
Articulate communicator with presentation-building and delivery skills
Strong quantitative and analytical skills - able to distill data into insights
Capable of designing thoughtful meeting processes/agendas and skilled at chairing or facilitating meetings or sessions that make progress on high-stakes discussions with senior stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to absorb and learn new domains quickly
Masterful manager of multiple projects, activities, and tasks across work-streams
Able to balance urgency with collaboration
