Role Overview
We’re seeking a technically strong and people-focused Engineering Manager to lead our GKOS Team. This team is responsible for building and maintaining critical components of the Graykey custom services, with a focus on Linux userspace systems and Python. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Linux internals, capacity planning, and iterative delivery, and will be passionate about mentoring others and fostering technical excellence and professional growth.

NOTE: Candidate must reside in The United States OR Canada.

Key Responsibilities Role Expectations:

    • Lead and mentor a team of engineers developing and deploying the GKOS solution.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management, Cloud, QA, Applogic, and Hardware teams to define and execute the roadmap.
    • Partner with the Technical Lead to drive architectural decisions for scalable, reliable, and efficient systems.
    • Ensure high-quality, maintainable code through rigorous code reviews, testing practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
    • Use data-driven insights to continuously improve team efficiency and delivery.
    • Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and delivery milestones.
    • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement through regular retrospectives and action-oriented follow-ups.

Required Skills & Experience:

    • Proven ability to mentor, coach, and elevate team performance.
    • Experience leading software engineering teams, ideally with Linux internals (userspace bundles and application code).
    • Familiarity with network protocols, APIs, and system services relevant to appliance functionality.
    • Skilled in giving and receiving constructive feedback.
    • Builds trust across cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
    • Influences team alignment and delivery throughout the development lifecycle.
    • Applies strong situational leadership to adapt and guide effectively.
    • Communicates clearly and confidently—both written and verbal.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and organisational precision.
    • Travel: 5%.

Nice to Have Skills:

    • Knowledge of security best practices for Linux appliances (hardening, secure boot, patching, updating, CVEs).
    • Experience with containers (Docker) in embedded and build systems.
    • Strong background in CI/CD for Linux or embedded targets.
    • Knowledge of diagnostics, logging, and telemetry in appliance environments.
    • Prior experience in cybersecurity, forensics, networking appliances, or IoT devices.
    • Exposure to cloud integration and hybrid deployment models.

Compensation & Benefits:

    • The Compensation Range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. Please note that the actual compensation may vary depending on location and job-related factors such as qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills. If you are applying for this role outside of the primary location and you are selected for an interview, the Talent Acquisition Partner can share more information with you. If the compensation structure for the role includes an incentive component (ie. most Sales roles) the range below represents total target compensation (TTC) (base salary + variable).

    • Compensation Range:
    • MIN: $154,000 - MID: $220,000 - MAX: $264,000 USD
    • MIN: $137,900 - MID: $197,000 - MAX: $246,400 CAD
