Job Overview
Mainspring is experiencing rapid growth and is ramping up the manufacturing of its Linear Generators. The company is seeking a strong supply chain leader to develop the tactical supply chain organization to manage increased volumes from local and global production procurement as well as support R&D and O&M internal stakeholders. This position will lead the procurement team, establishing and managing an organization focused on on-time part delivery, cost reduction, business continuity, compliance, quality, and working capital improvements. This role is crucial for implementing procurement processes and organizational development, including MRP implementation and execution.
The Senior Supply Chain Manager Procurement Leader will be responsible for sourcing and developing qualified and cost-effective suppliers to support growth. The role requires skills in organizational development, cost reduction, DFM (Design for Manufacturability), and should-cost knowledge, as well as experience working with and leading cross-functional teams (including engineering, NPI, and quality) to reduce costs while maintaining quality and production schedules. This position will involve up to 25% travel to visit vendors. The individual will manage the procurement of parts for local manufacturing and R&D, align/support Contract Manufacturers as needed, and utilize and support the ongoing development and operation of the MRP system. Active collaboration with cross-functional teams and a strong motivation to maximize efficiency in working with suppliers and parts are essential.
Responsibilities
- Leading the Mainspring Tactical supply chain team. Continual development of the team, Management Operating System (MOS) and Key Process Indicators (KPIs) to drive improved performance, efficiency and effectiveness within the team.
- Work closely with the Strategic supply chain teams to enable optimum supplier selection for Quality, cost and delivery.
- Collaborate with Contract Manufacturers on part pricing database, Clear to Build, Purchase requisition approvals, MOS, KPIs, PPV and expedited freight.
- Material procurement responsibilities in support of product Upgrades, R&D, Retrofits & O&M.
- Collaborating to build and manage effective supplier relationships to source, validate, and manage the supply base for various electrical and mechanical components/ assemblies, hardware, MRO & indirect purchases, ultimately delivering a best total landed cost supply chain.
- Leading and/or supporting pricing negotiations and vendor strategies as parts move through their lifecycle, from fast-turn R&D to long-term agreements for volume manufacturing.
- Leading individual projects and mentoring the supply chain team on DFM and should-cost analysis projects for cost improvements and negotiations.
- Assisting in the continuous improvement, development, and implementation of the MRP system.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering (or equivalent) discipline, including supply chain.
- At least 15 years of experience in a supply chain/procurement organization with a proven track record of supplier evaluation, contract negotiation, and global supply base management and organizational leadership.
- Supply chain/procurement knowledge in electrical and mechanical commodities.
- Skilled Excel user with a good understanding of MRP & ERP systems.
- Experience in lean manufacturing, a plus.
$188,000 - $221,000 a year
This position is onsite at our Menlo Park HQ. The salary will be adjusted to reflect local market conditions based on employee location as well as the experience of the employee. Along with the base salary, Mainspring offers pre-IPO stock options + benefits.
