Job Overview

As Senior Product Manager, Data Center and Utility Solutions, you will lead Mainspring’s product direction and competitive positioning in two of our most critical verticals. You’ll translate real-world customer pain points into actionable solution designs, support industry-aligned product development, and work with go-to-market teams to position our offering in a way that resonates with industry buyers.  This is a high-impact, cross-functional role that sits at the intersection of product, sales, and market strategy.

Industry Insight and Solution Development

    • Further deepen our understanding of the evolving needs of data centers and utilities, including operational, economic, regulatory, corporate/cybersecurity risk management, and sustainability drivers.
    • Work with other members of the Product team to enhance competitive analysis specific for the data center and utility markets across key use-cases.
    • As the market continues to evolve, identify where Mainspring can most effectively compete and win, and surface the new capabilities — internal or third-party — required to do so.
    • Articulate Mainspring value proposition by use case for data center and utility customers and how those value propositions translate into claims that Marketing and Sales/BD can use to proposition Mainspring solutions in the market
    • Develop and validate reference solution designs with input from engineering, product, and external experts.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Work closely with functionally-oriented product managers to translate industry requirements into roadmap priorities and align customer timing with product development cycles.
    • Collaborate with Sales, BD, and Sales Engineering to support proposal development, customer conversations, and deployment planning.
    • Partner with Product Marketing and Corporate Communications to develop compelling external narratives, whitepapers, and customer-facing materials.

Customer and Market Engagement

    • Participate in customer meetings, industry events, and ecosystem discussions as a credible, technically fluent representative of Mainspring’s perspective.
    • Develop strong relationships with key technical stakeholders at targeted customers, expanding our network and influence within the industry.
    • Advocate for customer needs across the company and help refine how we communicate our differentiated value to the market.

Qualifications

    • 8-10+ years of relevant professional experience, with at least 3-4 years doing work in either the data center or electric utility industry.
    • Technical background, ideally in electrical engineering or related fields. Experience with power systems, DERs, or distributed generation a plus.
    • Strong domain expertise in at least one of the target industries and ability to build credibility quickly in the other.
    • Proven track record of cross-functional collaboration and translating complex industry needs into clear requirements or solution architectures.
    • Experience contributing to proposals, industry-facing content, or reference solution development preferred.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to form relationships with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders 
    • Analysis, reasoning, and organizational skills to function well in a fast-paced startup environment
$140,000 - $165,000 a year
This position is remote. The salary will be adjusted to reflect local market conditions based on employee location as well as the experience of the employee. Along with the base salary, Mainspring offers pre-IPO stock options + benefits.

New hires joining the company tend to be paid within the starting base pay range noted above, with opportunities to increase pay over time based on development of additional skills, competencies, and company-specific knowledge.
