Rainmaker is pioneering advanced X, K, W, and G band weather radar technology that delivers unprecedented meteorological data accuracy. Our radar systems are designed to operate in challenging environments and provide reliable data for critical weather monitoring applications.
As Lead RF Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, test, and measurement of RF subsystems for our weather radar platforms. You will focus on component modeling and RF PCB layout to ensure optimal performance across various frequency bands. This role is critical to translating radar system requirements into manufacturable hardware that meets strict performance specifications.
What You'll Do
- Lead test and measurement activities for RF subsystems across X, K, W, and G band weather radar products
- Develop and maintain accurate component models for radar RF components including amplifiers, mixers, filters, and antennas
- Design and oversee RF PCB layouts with emphasis on signal integrity for sensitive radar circuits
- Specify RF performance characteristics and requirements for weather radar systemsConduct RF trials and analyze performance data to verify and characterize radar systems
- Lead a team of RF engineers, providing technical guidance and mentorship
- Troubleshoot complex RF issues using advanced test equipment and analytical techniques
- Interface with manufacturing to ensure designs meet producibility requirements
- Collaborate with system engineers to define radar specifications and architectures
- Support field testing and customer demonstrations of radar systems
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 7+ years of experience in RF engineering, with emphasis on radar or similar systems
- Demonstrated expertise in RF test and measurement techniques using network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and power meters
- Proficiency in RF PCB layout and design for high-frequency circuitsExperience with component modeling and simulation using tools like ADS, HFSS, or similar
- Strong understanding of RF principles, transmission line theory, and electromagnetic concepts
- Experience with multiple frequency bands, especially X, K, W, or G bands
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams
Preferred Qualifications
