Rainmaker is pioneering a modern precipitation enhancement system to solve water scarcity and inclement weather problems. We develop and incorporate radar validation, weather-resistant UAS, numerical weather modeling, and sustainable cloud seeds into an effective precipitation enhancement solution.
The Director of Field Operations leads the strategic planning and execution of Rainmaker's field operations, overseeing both domestic and international precipitation enhancement operations. This role combines operational leadership with customer relations skills to drive successful deployment of our precipitation enhancement solutions while ensuring safety and efficiency across all field activities.
What You'll Do
- Operational Coordination: Lead the development and execution of operational strategies that advance Rainmaker's mission of solving water scarcity through precipitation enhancement technology. Create and implement comprehensive aviation and operational safety plans for complex UAS operations. Collaborate with the leadership team to establish operational priorities and resource allocation strategies that support company objectives and growth targets.
- Training and Management: Direct the recruitment, training, and development of Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) to build and maintain high-performing teams. Oversee FDE staffing across multiple operations, ensuring appropriate resource allocation and coverage for both domestic and international deployments. Coordinate and direct operational meteorologists to optimize precipitation enhancement operations and maintain technical excellence across all field activities.
- Operational Execution: Manage the comprehensive logistics and coordination of field operations, including equipment deployment, personnel scheduling, and resource optimization. Develop and implement standardized operational procedures. Ensure compliance with aviation regulations and safety requirements while maintaining operational efficiency. Position requires up to 50% travel to oversee operations and ensure successful project implementation.
- Customer Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for the operational aspects of customer relationships, managing expectations and ensuring successful service delivery. Interface directly with customers to address operational requirements and solve challenges.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive experience in operations management
- Proven track record of building and leading field teams
- Experience in creating and implementing safety protocols for complex field operations
- Excellent project management and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication abilities and customer relationship management experience
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, including international travel
- Capable of working in various weather conditions and environments
- Valid passport and ability to obtain necessary travel visas
Preferred Qualifications
- Military or similar crew based team (Construction, Drilling, Shipping etc.)
- UAS operations management experience
- International operations experience
- Knowledge of radar systems and weather monitoring technologies
