Rainmaker is pioneering a modern cloud seeding system to solve water scarcity and inclement weather problems. We develop and incorporate radar validation, weather-resistant UAS, numerical weather modeling, and sustainable cloud seeds into an effective precipitation enhancement solution.
As a member of Rainmaker’s Manufacturing Operations team, you will support and run the internal initiatives around manufacturing software implementation and solving manufacturing problems. The manufacturing engineering team is responsible for rapidly iterating and building hardware products at the bleeding edge of science and engineering utilizing robotics, custom UAS’s, and advanced radar systems. This responsibility includes everything in the manufacturing value-chain, including, but not limited to, Design for Manufacturability work, tool design and selection, process creation & optimization, quality planning, and work documentation.
What You'll Do
- Design for Manufacturability: Perform design reviews (informal and formal) with the design teams, giving feedback on costs, tolerancing, order of operations, and Bill of Materials structure.
- Design and Tooling selection: Design custom tooling for work-holding, transportation and testing applications. Source COTS tooling for the use in the factory. Design and implement tooling control (5S) to maintain a clean and well organized factory floor. Fabricate your own tools (3D printing, 3-axis Mill, lathe, etc.)
- Process Creation and Optimization: Design, from the ground up, the manufacturing process for our custom drones, and robotic systems designing for scalability and seasonality. Implement production tracking software/processes to guide, control, and orchestrate manufacturing processes.
- Quality Planning: Decide where testing must occur on the production line, while balancing risk reduction, cost, and design flexibility. Design and build test setups and data recording.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to creatively deliver electromechanical hardware in a resource-constrained environment
- Personal experience physically manufacturing hardware via any means (machining, fabrication, soldering, assembly, etc.) Work on personal or extracurricular projects is a plus.
- A genuine interest in manufacturing and thirst for learning
- Experience and competence in Solidworks, NX, or other CAD software
- Extensive use and understanding of ERP, MES, and MRP softwareExperience transitioning products from design to production as part of a cross functional team.
- Experience interpreting and creating component and assembly drawings to ASME Y14.5 standards
- Experience designing tooling in a manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
- 4+ years of hands on manufacturing experience in a fast paced environment
- Degree in a technical field preferred such as engineering, math, or a hard science
- Software scripting experience in Python (or other languages)
- Experience with deploying custom robotics systems and automation inside and outside the factory.
- Six Sigma Belt
- Experience sourcing production parts from the domestic supply chain in commodities like PCBAs, composites, machined components, sheet metal, etc.
