The Position:
Makpar has a potential opportunity for a Nutanix Virtualization Administrator/Engineer in the fall of 2025 to join our growing team.

The qualified candidate shall provide support to configure, operate, maintain, document, and deliver enhancements to a Threat Simulation Environment (TSE). The TSE is a vSphere environment that is used to isolate testing activities and automate the provisioning of systems.

Role Responsibilities:

    • The TSE Administrator shall provide administration, configuration, operation, and maintenance support for the Threat Simulation Environment (TSE).
    • The TSE Administrator shall configure, operate, and maintain the TSE, which includes but is not limited to:
    • ...VMware vSphere,
    • ...VMware VRealize Automation and Operations Manager,
    • ...NSX,
    • ...Red Hat, Debian, Kali, and Windows Server
    • ...Ansible
    • ...Microsoft Active Directory.
    • The TSE Administrator shall update the Configuration Management, Operations Guide, and System Design artifacts and standard operating procedures as needed.
    • The TSE Administrator shall create and maintain automated deployment Blueprints and configuration specifications.
    • The TSE Administrator shall ensure the proper configuration of Authentication, Authorization, and Access Control rules.
    • The TSE Administrator shall research, plan, and deploy updates, patches, and vulnerabilities to critical infrastructure.
    • Install NVIDIA packages to hypervisor hosts.
    • Install NVIDIA drivers and dependencies on Linux virtual machines.
    • Assign NVIDIA GPU profiles to virtual machines.
    • Configure NVIDIA MIG and vGPU technologies.
    • Install and configure distributed client-server hash cracking software.
    • Configure and manage Nutanix clusters
    • Use Nutanix Flow Network Security for network isolation and microsegmentation.
    • Create automation blueprints using Nutanix Self-Service (Calm).
    • Write Ansible playbooks and roles to configure and maintain VMs.
    • DESIRED OUTCOME – The TSE Administrator shall maintain a secure operating environment, to include all hardware and software refreshes, document all procedures and adhere to all relevant enterprise policies and procedures.
    • The TSE Administrator shall maintain the provisioning catalog, add new items based on need, and provide support to the Research Team in meeting their requirements.

Required Qualifications:

    • At least 3-5 years of experience in cybersecurity roles, particularly in operating system security and firewall management.
    • Certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Nutanix Certified Professional, Red Hat Certified System Administrator, or similar credentials are often preferred.
    • Nutanix Experience: Proven experience/exposure in deploying, managing, and optimizing Nutanix Environments
    • Ability to work effectively with pentest teams, vulnerability scanning team, and other stakeholders.
    • Virtual Environments:
    • -- Expertise in operating and maintaining virtual environments for threat simulation.
    • -- Experience in configuring GPU passthrough to VMs with or without MIG.
    • --Experience in installing/configuring GPU drivers on hypervisors and virtual machines.
    • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools to integrate automation and security within virtualization platforms
    • Experience in writing Ansible playbooks to automate tasks within the virtualization platform.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities.
    • Additional Requirements as per contract/client:
    • Candidates must be a US Citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident (Green Card status) for 3 years and be Federal Tax compliant to obtain necessary clearances.

    • NVIDIA MIG and vGPU technologies.

    • Ansible playbooks and roles to configure and maintain VMs.
