Malbon Golf is a high-growth, innovative golf apparel brand dedicated to redefining the culture of the sport through style, creativity, and performance. Based in Los Angeles, we are looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for a highly analytical, organized professional who is eager to grow and learn within a startup environment.
 
Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable Management
- Oversee vendor relationships, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in payments.
- Review vendor statements and reconcile accounts.
- Complete vendor forms and maintain accurate records.
- Serve as a liaison between Malbon Golf and vendors to resolve any discrepancies.

Accounts Receivable Management
- Ensure customer account details are up-to-date and accurate.
- Issue credit memos and reconcile discrepancies in collaboration with the sales department.
- Post payments accurately against invoices and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Work proactively with customers to resolve payment issues in a timely manner.

Reconciliation & General Ledger Support
- Assist in reconciling bank statements and credit card transactions.
- Support the management of general ledger accounts, including inventory, merchant accounts, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to support business decisions.

Audit Support
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and reports.

Compliance
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Tax Support
- Assist with the preparation of tax filings, including income tax returns.

Expense Management
- Monitor and categorize business and employee expenses, ensuring they adhere to the company's budget and accounting policies.

1099 Processing
- Assist with the full cycle of 1099 form preparation and filing, ensuring accurate data collection and timely submission to comply with IRS regulations.

Process Improvement
- Analyze workflow processes to identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
 
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a high-growth startup or retail environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (experience with QuickBooks or NetSuite is a plus).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
