Malt is Europe's leading freelancing platform with one clear mission: to give people the freedom to choose who they work with. Co-founded in 2013 by Vincent Huguet, with Alexandre Fretti as co-CEO since 2022, Malt is a tech company with a human approach that helps companies and freelancers make the perfect match.

Malt is a marketplace that embraces a community of over 700,000 freelancers and over 70,000 clients, ranging from small and medium-sized enterprises to large corporations. More than just a connector, our marketplace streamlines freelancer-client communications, simplifies administrative and legal tasks, expedites invoicing and payments, and so much more.

We are all about giving both freelancers and companies choice and added peace of mind, so that every experience on Malt is nothing less than (inter)stellar. The launch of Malt Strategy in 2023 enabled Malt to broaden its scope by offering the expertise of a network of top independent consultants and transition managers, to better support companies from the strategy to the implementation of ambitious projects.

Join us on Planet Malt, we need you to help us write this next chapter! 🪐

Following a Series D round of funding, Malt opened its first office in London in November 2022. We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager, based in London, to join an ambitious team and help take Malt to the next level.

An essential element of our success will come from you, the Business Development Manager. In this role you will be responsible for acquiring, establishing, and nurturing long-term partnerships with our most important clients. This is a challenging “full-stack” sales role that will directly contribute to the commercial expansion of Malt all while building quality relationships with our key accounts in the UK.

Working in a small office of 20, you will also have a strategic impact and you will shape the culture of the local team for the years to come. We are looking for entrepreneurial and optimistic individuals.

Key responsibilities ✨

    • Define your playground to develop your key accounts (2000 FTE and above): client territory by industry and size based on the existing Malt footprint.
    • You will be a hunter, using cold and warm outreach strategies to build your pipeline and crack new accounts.
    • Design, implement, and execute your go to market plan to grow your business with each account.
    • Effectively collaborate with internal teams (marketing, sourcing, finance, C-levels…) to ensure long-term client success.
    • Become a trusted advisor for your clients, help them adapt their organisation and processes to make the most out of their flexible talent strategy.
    • Get a precise understanding of the rise of freelancing and the associated challenges and opportunities for large companies in the UK (eg. IR35).
    • Educate the UK market on the power of using independent consultants and freelancers to become more agile and flexible.
    • Provide local insights from users on how to further enhance the product and Malt value proposition.

About you 🧑‍🚀

    • 3+ years of experience in a similar role in a B2B or SaaS company
    • Proven experience of target driven sales and account management experience, preferably in the technology industry
    • Excellent formal communication and presentation skills that can be used with C-level decision makers
    • Self-starter with a 'hunter' mindset, making outreach a core part of your day to day
    • Basic knowledge of the tech industry (languages and frameworks)
    • Comfortable in a fast-paced, ever-changing scale-up environment

How to join the mission? 🚀

    • Screening with Sophie, People Business Partner, to better understand your background, aspirations and answer your questions. (30 minutes)
    • Interview with Amandine (UK Head of Sales), your future manager, to discuss your experience and how it would align with this role (45 minutes)
    • Prepare a case study which you’ll then present to Lena and Javier (Senior Business Development Managers) (1 hour)
    • Final interview with Charlie (UK Country Head) to discuss Malt’s long term vision and to check any remaining questions (30 mins)
