Mammoth is seeking a Scientist with expertise in nucleic acid chemistries and/or nucleic acid amplification technologies to join its Diagnostic team, which is responsible for developing CRISPR diagnostic technologies and devices.

The successful candidate will be responsible for executing experiments to develop new nucleic acid technologies to enhance our CRISPR-based diagnostic assays. The scope of the work will include (i) nucleic acid conjugation to proteins and surfaces, (ii) optimizing and evaluating nucleic acid amplification methods, and (iii) developing and evaluating novel CRISPR reagents. 


    • Design and execute experiments to enhance the capabilities of Mammoth’s CRISPR-Cas proteins for diagnostic applications
    • Conduct hands-on-experiments for nucleic acid extraction, amplification, and related assays
    • Work with team lead to set quarterly and annual goals that contribute to the Applied group’s objectives
    • Develop assays, tools, and infrastructure for testing and evaluating new readout chemistries
    • Document and regularly present experimental results at internal meetings
    • Train and Mentor Research Associates
    • Coordinate with Research Associates and Engineering teams to execute experiments


    • Master's degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, bioengineering or a related discipline, plus 5 years of experience in the biotechnology industry
    • PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, bioengineering or a related discipline, plus 1 year of experience in the biotechnology industry


    • Direct experience with CRISPR-Cas systems such as Cas9, Cas12, Cas13, or Cas14
    • Deep familiarity with CRISPR-Cas diagnostic literature
    • Experience immobilizing proteins to surfaces
    • Familiarity with isothermal amplification methods
    • Computer and scripting skills (Benchling, JMP, R, python)
